Wow, Congrat's on the new Merc! That's a first for Mercedes to make an E class convertible AMG

My wife wants a convertible, and she was looking at the M4. But I think the Merc E53 hit it this time...

See it here -->

So beautiful. Almost ended up in one of these guys but not a cab! panned out to a c43 instead though. Wanted to let them run some kinks through the 53 models first

Nice pick for Summer
BTW - is that binnacle all LCD flatscreen?

We had a M3 and an AMG both throw rods through the crankcase today at the track Fri-Sat. I think the Maps in these ECUs are leaning out too much, or starving the journals of oil.

If you track it, get some good software and maybe baffles in the oil pan.

The 2001 M3 had issue with rod bearings lubrication. They did massive recall, but they did not recall every car. Some they claimed did not have that problem.

So potentially it was one of those. Do you know the year of that lucky one?

I also had my 540i throw a rod at just 16K miles, requiring new short block - warranty, fortunately.

Nice car... but they forgot the stick. :)

It would also benefit from a 1.5" drop.

No, I didn’t ask - usually I leave them to their own thoughts after the clean up.

But this was the newer body style so E92 not E46 platform.

Well, shit does happen. I hope their warranty does not get too smart.
