New Toyota Supra

I couldn’t find one, so I thought i’d make a thread to discuss the new Toyota Supra.

What do you guys think of it? How do you think it compares to its competitors like the Porsche 718?

Who’s thinking about buying one?!

Personally, I love it and think it is an excellent value proposition.

Share your thoughts!

Epic failure

On its own, it’s a fine car, but it’s only a Supra in name.

I actually watched Doug DeMuro's review of it about an hour ago and my previous enthusiasm isn't the same.

It's going to be great for tuning as they left a lot of potential available for that purpose. Lots of BMW stuff all around since it's based on the Z4. That's fine by me as long as it's reliable enough to handle what most might throw at it.

With that said, I feel like the ones made until 1998 are the way to go and are truly Supra's. The new one is still a very cool car though. Can't wait to see what performance tuning companies can actually achieve.

Gross. I had a ‘94 TT 6 speed. Dumbest thing I ever did was selling that car. Also had a ‘93 TT FD3S. I still dream about both.

I saw the BMW version of it. 4cyl, no manual transmission. Pass.

My disdain for this car can be summed up by the following:

Too heavy
No manual
Fake vents everywhere
Underpowered

It was underwhelming for me. I think it looks like a BMW and a Miata had a strange love child.

Ehhh, Not my cup of tea. If I want a BMW I buy a BMW. Not a shell with a Toyota logo on it

Offered purchase slots which I politely declined - an avid sports car enthusiast ... what a disappointment.

Not enough to buy it. But I do like it.

If only we had a dollar for every time a horse was re-beaten (is that a word?) on the Internet, we'd own a few horse stables in Kentucky.

We'll except for the Miata which has the best manual in the world.
Cheers.

I guess Toyota has given up doing sports cars of their own like it used to be in the past. We want a AE86 revival, Subaru will do it. We want a Supra revival, BMW will do do it. As long as we have the hybrid technology to sell, we can have any car we want. Sad, but that's the way it is.
On the other hand, Mazda is now developing a new straight 6 Skyactyv X engine (on their own) to go against BMW and Mercedes.
Cheers.

i like it, it looks so much better than its rivals

i wouldnt need any more power than that,

yes its a lot of bmw in there, but toyota need to keep a foot in the sports car market, and this is a good way.

You can modify it? aren't these cars a good base for making a 1000whp drift car?
