Pam 111

I am looking at purchasing a new PAM (my first) and have this model included on the short list. I had an AD tell me today that this watch was being discontinued and i would not be able to ever get one now (funny because another AD has one in stock)??? Of course, the 111 was the only one of the bunch i've narrowed down that this particular AD did not have in stock. So, i'm wondering if this is true or just sales crap to get me to buy a different model. I kind of thought the 111 was a staple for Panerai and can't believe they would discontinue...

Never heard either about being discontinued

Probably just another sale tactic trying to get you to buy another model that they got in stock.

You know, my only thought is that as Panerai moves more to inhouse movements that may be the case down the road, but I've heard nothing yet.

I'll be going to my AD this morning so I'll ask and see what they have heard.

I think is just a sales tactic, I ask my AD today and he doesn't know anything either, I went to another AD and they told me that Panerai is going to discontinue the Submersible 24

Went to mine this morning and asked the same thing. They said there was no mention of discontinuing any models ( several of the guys there went to SIHH) but they did say they expect Panerai to begin lowering the production numbers on some of the Historic watches but that would not likely happen for several years. What my AD did tell me this morning was the Ferrari watches are going to limit their production numbers. He said it was to make them more exclusive but I interpreted this to mean not selling very strongly any more. It was a good visit, they still don't have any 09' catalogs to give out yet and have no idea when the new in-house movement watches will begin arriving but they did say the 312 is "The" hot request as they have already been flooded with calls. Did talk to another WIS in the store though who was wearing a nice 88 on a brown strap and he had one of the Panerai spin off watches. I forget the name but it's something derived from the word anonymous, and has the winding crown in the 6 o'clock position which looked really odd. He was having their watch tech put on a new strap which was apparently a chore because of loc-tite and the strange strap/crown set up. Looked pretty cool though.

111 discontinued? I don't think so

During the recent SIHH 09, Panerai has told everyone that all regular models like 88, 90, 104, 164, 111, 112, 176, 177, 233 & etc will still be made..
111 is a good choice!
Good luck.

If any AD tells you that these models are discontinued, you should find another AD.
