Isn't it suspicious when newer watch doesn't come with warranty card, papers?

Looking at possibly buying a Hulk.....seems so many of these from sellers don't come with papers. How is this possible on a newer watch?

I can imagine a vintage watch that is 25 years old where the papers were maybe misplaced....but do not understand how a watch in the last 10 years can have no papers. Seems suspicious to me when I see a seller selling one without....especially on a $14k watch.

I can only imagine someone selling the watch while wearing it and in need of funds, hence all the Rolex boxes for sale on eBay?

Given that many/most of us don't get the warranty card for 12 months from your AD, I don't see anything too suspicious. Folk are flipping watches.. Rule of thumb though, buy the seller as well as the watch and if there any red flags - walk away.

Yeah, but the whole holding warranty card didn't start until, what, a year or two ago?

The box isn't a big deal....I can see why those would ditch that or not sell the watch with it.....but not including the warranty card has a direct effect on the watch value. It's like selling a car without a title almost.

There's no reason for why you should be seeing more Hulk's without papers than other models, other than the fact that the Hulk is a hot model that sells for a premium over MSRP, but it's always going to sell for MORE with papers than without - therefore any sellers are always going to try and get the papers if they can, so again I see no explanation for why this is happening - it's probably just a random coincidence / aberration. If you want one with papers just be patient and I'm sure you'll find one in due time.

That would stop me dead from buying any watch that was even remotely modern.

Whether the watch is real or not is one question, but when I'm buying, I want the FUULLLL kit.

Unless it's something rare, there's a nice full kit piece out there, just have to look for it.

A lot of this boxes on eBay are fake too. So it’s possible some are real, but I’ve seen “full sets” including outer box, inner box, and blank cards hot eBay and other sites for sale. As little as $150 for the set. It goes well with the fake watches they put in them.

that is the most crazy thing I've heard about buying rolexes the ad not giving the box and card. sounds like fake news and id like a first hand account of such an event. I just bought a sub date, and last month an AK, and 11 months before that a sd 43 everything but the stickers even the coffin on every one. I would not buy a newer watch without box and card and hang tags. Its just what the AD does for its regular customers. If the item is being presented without, well then one should wonder the path/s that item has been on.

Last year As a new customer of watches of Switzerland they kept papers / price tags / stickers / coffin / bezel protector. I didn’t even see or ask about the manuals / other literature, I was too excited to be getting a BLNR. I got the box, green chrono tag and a bag, that’s it. Had to be sized and worn out the shop... happy to oblige !

The warrantee card will be posted to me within 12 months from the date of purchase (which is 2 months from now). And I will insist on the manual and other literature.

They can keep the plastic coffin shit and price tag etc.

Some reputable companies, like Joma Shop, don’t include the Rolex warranty card. But should have the other booklets. Watches from Joma can end up on a lot of sites. But yeah, I’d pay a bit more for a warranty card and peace of mind.

I would def be cautious for a current production pre-owned watch being sold without warranty card. However, you can imagine there are legit reasons why this might be- for example, owner lost it, AD kept it, owner got divorced and wife torched it, jomashop selling it, AD selling it and afraid to appear as a flipper if watch was bought new from the,...
