James Martin’s 1675 Being Auctioned

Well it says “Believed to belong to celebrity chef, James Martin, from his collection of watches“. You’d think that they would know

And is a bog standard 1675 worth £20,000 even with that provenance?

I'd go more like 12-ish without B&P, but who knows in today's crazy auction market...

"believed to belong to J martin"-a questionable try to artificially pump it up imo. where is the provenance?

Even though:
-James Martin is not that well known, certainly not internationally. He is a UK "celebrity" television chef. I guess he is a WIS, saw him wearing various watches on his cooking show but...
-JM is born in 1972, watch is 1974; it is not like he bought the watch new and wore it for many years.

I'm not convinced that box belongs with the watch, either.

Agree. It should be a seahorse, or shell box (possibly a Bufkor box for a US purchase, or is it too early?) with the slotted card holder, not the tan-colored pillow and wrap.

The box is as incorrect as the later bezel insert.
