Rolex 116688 Yachtmaster II in YG - Different hand options years?

Hello,

Wondering what the different hand options were for each year of the 116688 YM2 in YG.

From what I know there is:
Yellow Gold Straight "Stick" Hands
Blue Straight "Stick" Hands
Yellow Gold Mercedes Hands

I believe that is the order they came out in too. Some pictures seem to show black hands, were black hands ever an option or is it just the blue in dark lighting?

You got it right. There were never black hands. It is just the lighting.

I also believe that the movement was improved after the first version with gold stick arms, from what I recall reading (in terms of parts within movement)

Personallly I’m a fan of the blue hand model the most
