Crazy me or crazy you?
Why do people who don't understand watches look at you like you're crazy to spend thousands of €-£-$ ????? But if a Rolex is going to last you all your life and will be a nice inheritance. Or cars that since they leave the dealership are already losing value
And then they buy an IPhone every year, with an early expiration date. Or large amounts of money on clothes that will soon go out of fashion. Who's really crazy ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????????? |

I suppose it’s like any of the things you’ve mentioned ...
I can justify spending on just about anything but whether I will or not just depends on my interest level and whether I think I’ll stick with it. |

Well, anyone spending thousands on a watch IS crazy on some level. You really are detached from reality if you think it is strange that ‘non-watch’ people don’t get it. You need to learn to accept your personality defect that gives you the compulsion to have a passion for watches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Spend $15k on a watch, you get people saying "OMG WHAT!?"
Spend $90k on a car, and people say "nice car". Buy what you want. So far my Watches retain a hell of a lot more value than any "Luxury" car. ;)

So you are unhappy about people having choice and making their own decisions?
Got it!

Sorry but a watch is in fact very much like a car, it is a mass produced metal piece of jewelry that will eventually depreciate like a car. You are assuming that because it is a Rolex it will perpetually increase in value. We are in a bubble right now and at some point the bubble will pop and your shiny Rolex will be worth around 70% of MSRP. In 20 years it will probably be worth less as it is subject to different tastes over time. I know I would never buy a 1985 36MM gold Rolex, but at some point, someone paid a lot for that watch. In 10 years tool watches could be just as out of fashion. The masses drive value with this kind of stuff, not the collectors.

Same people that buy a $5-8 coffee every day.
1 year = $1,800-2500. 10 years= $18,000-29,000. |

Also, things are not automatically worth more in the future as much as money is worth less. Almost no one takes this into account but blindly believes that mass produced high end luxury jewelry will somehow magically be very valuable in some future point in time.

Those people out paying well above MSRP or double for a Rolex will be facepalming themselves 10 years from now. What's that old saying? Ohh yeah, a fool and his money are soon parted:-) |

Rolex is mass produced. Let's not start lumping "watches" in together as a whole in regard to value or production. |

I purchased many Rolex watches and have made 30 percent and lost maybe 10 percent at the end of all my sales and purchases i have never lost money and truly enjoy collecting (the hunt) and selling these great Rolex time pieces. No insurance needed like cars or registration inspection gas etc . These watches are very low maintenance as long as you purchase from other good collectors and in most cases most are great people i had the privilege to buy and sell from . We are not crazy maybe little addicted but better than gambling .

If only I could drive to work on my Rolex.
Scratch that, it wouldn't be safe.

Interesting, say the same thing about people who truly love music yet have lousy Bluetooth speakers or low-end IEMs, etc. When you're looking to truly enjoy the music, try a high-end home audio system :)

I stopped caring what people thought at 16. Live your life, not theirs..
Then it won't matter. |
