Ticked off the wife...

Cutting, splitting, & stacking firewood for my fireplace & firepit (in the background). Didn't even think about my watch until my wife came out & demanded to know why I was wearing such a "fragile watch" while working?

I guess a watch that can go spelunking, climbing, biking, weight-lifting, swimming, scuba diving, & be run over by a truck magically turns into the most fragile of crystal when exposed to grass & wood...

Hope the picture attaches this time.

That is a rare woman, imo.
My wife throws all her jewelry, including her Rolex, into an ancient dish of some kind, without a care in the world.

It's a utility watch, probably the best tool watch Rolex produces - tell her that!

Never make any concessions to whatever activity I'm undertaking with whichever watch I'm wearing, both Rolex carry the scars of alternating daily wear. I'm a clumsy sort too.

The good lady is always on my case for not taking care of my things and having to wear new clothes (and less frequently new watches) as soon as I have them.

I always counter that everything I buy I do so to enjoy, and that specifically in the case of my watches there's nothing I do that Rolex haven't stress tested them for to a greater degree than I ever could.

She keeps all of her nice bags (in their dust covers), jewellery (in the purchase box), and shoes in their boxes when not in use, and the bags and jewellery in a nicely lit glass fronted cabinet in her dressing room. Good luck to her, looks like a lovely little boutique in there.

I'm not sure its really 'fragile'. Good on you for using it!

I would NOT chop wood whilst wearing a watch.
I would get someone else to do it.

I once dunked my SD4K into a glass of water to amuse my daughter and my wife freaked out...oh the irony.

I would not split wood with any watch on. That is some major forces, torque and abrupt stops your putting those tiny gears, escapement and winding rotor through. Climbing Mt. Everest is not nearly as hard on the watch if you do not fall.

Glad to see a Rolex put to good use rather than sitting in a safe waiting for the price appreciation!

Last year I passed a fellow using a jackhammer on the street in NYC. He had on a Sub. Talked to him. Never had a problem and said “it’s a Rolex”. One reason I love them.
