Explorer II 16570 DIY Bezel change help
Is changing an explorer ii 16570 Bezel to the same bezel something that can be done with a basic case knife?
I have done some searching here and elsewhere but cannot come up with a definitive answer to whether the Explorer Ii’s bezel also seals the crystal or not. I see on GMT master cases (same case) if you remove the rotating bezel, there is a separate locking ring that stays in place but I have not found any pictures of the Explorer II’s case with bezel removed. So Is the crystal locking ring and the bezel on the EXpii the same piece, meaning removing it will compromise my pressure seal? Or is that seperate like on GMt masters and the Bezel can be removed without interfering with the crystal? Thanks in advanced for your help. |

From what I here and understand the 16570 has the same middle case as the 16710 gmt and there interchangeable if you change the channel lock ring that holds the crystal now if your changing the 16570 bezel to another 16570 steel bezel it should pop off going in between with a tool or taped knife etc so yes it pops right off

No, sapphire crystals are sealed by press-fit onto the flange against a Delrin gasket.
Earlier plexi crystals are sealed by compression of the bezel and crystal together.

It don't seal the crystal on a 16570 but it sits very tight so it is very easy to damage it when you pull it off. Then you need a
bezel press to get it back.

Ok thanks everyone good to know. I need a bezel press in order to do this. Thanks all for entertaining my curiosity.
