New Arrival 216570 Explorer II Sorry, not polar :)

Need to take better pics, but loving this so far. This is my second Rolex, my first was a 16660 Seadweller I purchased in 2006 second hand and flipped a year later for the now comical sum of $3600

Reposting some of this from another thread...Been condensing my large collection as of late and had the Rolex itch bad lately. I figured I would rather have 3-5 real nice watches in a regular rotation than 20+ watches that never get worn. Amazing to see the Rolex issues lately with supply, etc as I have been researching for a few months now. Was in Las Vegas last month and did not see one SS model anywhere on the strip. Was at my AD this past Friday dropping off a Planet Ocean I just got to get appraised, and mentioned to my salesperson that I was eyeing the Explorer 2 in black but too bad about the Rolex inventory issues. I also mentioned a Panerai I was considering trading in/selling for it down the road, and she said to let her know the info on it "just in case things align correctly and they get the piece I want in." I just sent her the info last night, got a call from her this morning the Explorer 2 I wanted just came in today with the new shipment. After some value negotiation, we worked out a trade and that's all she wrote. VERY happy, and a big shoutout to Terri at Hyde Park Jewelers in Phoenix...she is awesome!

No need to apologize about not being a polar.. I love my black dial Explorer II as well!

The day after the 2019 Basel Rolex announcement, I picked my 216570. I had a choice between polar or black and I thought I'd pick polar but loved the black dial in person.

Enjoy your new watch!

Congrats!!

Originally I was chasing the Polar, but now after my AD trolled me today, I am looking at the black dial on grey market to get rid of the itch.

Nice pick up!

I also have the black dial Exp2. I think it’s better than the polar. Too me the Polars hands and too cartoonish. The floating hands on the black dial is something else tho!

Thanks All! I got this watch as a 40th Birthday present for myself and plan to never part with it, so I thought the black would be better long term and would suit any occasion perfectly. As someone who has NEVER bought a high end watch new from an AD and gone through many in years past, it is really cool to see my name on the registration card and know I am the first and only owner.

Don't get me wrong, absolutley love the Polar as well but I figured black would be the long term more versatile choice :)

Congrats and wear it in good health. IMHO, the black is lot better then the polar. The orange hand is more suited for black dial then white.

I think this is exactly why I like the black better. The orange hand looks weird against the white dial

Congrats. The black dial Ex II is so much more versatile than the polar. Lots of polars for sale for a reason imo. The black dial with what look like floating hands and white gold surrounds are just stunning! This has been the real Rolex sleeper that is waking. Polars are cool, for sure, but many who buy them seem to flip them in time. The black dial seems to be a keeper. Anyway, just my two cents worth.

I know so many people in here go gaga for the Polar, but when I wore it I just couldn’t get into it. Black is where it’s at!
