AD Discounts

Has anyone seen or been offered recently a discount in the 20% range for a SS sport model? I would think in this economy there are not a lot of people willing to pay list, or be excited with 5%.

Of course, luxury has a brand to protect; i was in the Louis Vuitton store in Manhattan over Christmas and they would rather walk you than even acknowledge a request for a better price.

PS, my AD choices here are Tourneau and I know better than to even think about a deal there...

I am visiting my hometown in upstate NY, and the ADs around here aren't walking anyone. It doesn't matter what the model is...they are playing "let's make a deal."

I was so sure I was going to get it and then ended up getting the LV. Although, I would buy from someone on this forum for an even better deal.

An AD in NC will give 20% off anything in their case, except for the SDDS. I have asked about an ND, YM, SD, and Sub date, and all were 20% off MSRP. Granted I would give back an immediate 7% in tax, but the original discount was 20%.

I don't think they'll deal over the phone, either.

Will they ship out of state (friend) to save the tax?

20% all day long on anything except a GV or SS Daytona. This was before the hard times hit

I do not think there is anywhere that is not getting crushed right now in the USA, or for that matter, anywhere in the world.
When there are few buyers, excess inventory and over-anxious sellers, prices tumble.
If your AD doesn't move on the price, find one that will. They are everywhere to be found.

I stopped in one AD in Dallas before buying a pre-owned GMT IIC, they offered to cover the sales tax. I called several others, told them I was going to buy a IIC this week and asked for their best deal, out-the-door, MSRP of $7K total was the best I could fine, most were a bit more. I saved over $2K, and bought one on TZ, I'm every bit as happy.

I agree, shop around there are AD's willing to negotiate. Two weeks ago my AD sold me a Sub ND for 22% off retail. But it was one(Z-serial#) they had had in stock for awhile and I'm sure they were glad to move it!!!

If you walk in the store and see your pearly white, chances are they will ship to SC to save the tax. They're close to the SC border, on the coast (hint).

Let me know if you want the name of my sales dude.

Have you also considered one of the good grey guys? busa180 (Jerry) might be worth contacting. He's in the NY metro area, and can probably get you what you want at a price that will beat any AD by hundreds, and probably no shipping involved. Here's his last post:

For what it's worth, I'm waiting on him to get me a ND Sub, as it'll be cheaper than I can get at my AD. The delta in price is well worth the 'risk' of not having the full warranty. Plus I can get all the 'extra' goodies from him (bracelet, insert) when I get the watch, as there is a good chance these little items will become harder to get in the future and will cost quite a lot more.

Managed to get just over 20% off a Datejust from a really nice dealer. We were first-time customers too.
