Worst thing I could have done...
I was looking at my watch under a 10x loupe.... Christ I thought it would be neat to look at the craftsmanship after seeing a 10x for $2 in the camera section of a store I like. I thought my steel was polished like a mirror until I saw hundreds of scratches the naked eye doesn’t see.
I am one of the “once I know, I know...” types. Made to make some people laugh is all... |

Watches at 10x is a bad idea. Stick to what you can see with the naked eye only!!

Put away the loupe and enjoy your watch.

Every watch looks like that under a loupe no matter how careful you’ve been. Only way to prevent this is keep it in the box and never wear it!! Stay away from the loupes!!

Hmm I would instead say, “I really got to know my watch up close and personal”. Especially as you state that you love this watch.

I personally never use a loupe. Rolex is not the kind of watch that will look good under magnification. Grand Seiko is better at that.

my watches look great under a loupe, and most are 20 years old. Bracelets show wear but dials look like new.

I look at Rolex through a loupe with fear and trepidation, and at Grand Seiko with pleasure and amazement

Grand Seiko may have better finish.
But under 100x magnification it will show the imperfection. Also Seiko is still a seiko. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There is a MASSIVE difference between Seiko and Grand Seiko.
The "Grand" is far better finished. It is also unbeleivably accurate. the second hand sweep is something to be amazed at also.

what exactly are you seeing with the loupe? Unless it's a sapphire case back or open movement dial, am I missing the point here?

I love Panerai because I can still see the time without my glasses ...
