Reccomendation for Dallas INDEPENDENT watchmaker?
Any recommendations for good Dallas watchmakers? I really like Bob Ridley in Arlington, but if I just needed something quick, open a watch, etc is there anyone in Dallas, other than the RSC, that any of you Dallas guys would recommend?
Thanks! |

Send it to Bob...
You are so close, I have to break down and send it all the way from Michigan to get it to him even if its just for a review of a recent purchase. There are TONS of local guys who deal in older watches and will gladly do Rolex BUT I am happier with Bob. He can just tell whats happening and see things others may not as he knows these watches inside and out as well as upside down. If you just want someone who can open a caseback so you can make sure its real and all that just look in the local phone book and find a watchmaker whose independent and go by his shop to talk for a couple minutes. If he isn't willing to chat watches for a minute he is not worth using! Oh yes, also make sure he has the proper tools to open the case (ask to see what he uses) I made that mistake once. Didn't ask to see them (asked and he said oh yeah sure) Well he used pliers and the case back was chewed up.

I know Bob is great and he is my first choice for any "real" work, however, if it is going to cost me at least two hours to drive there, have whatever I need done done and then drive back. I always like to visit with Bob, he's a great guy, but sometimes I just don't have the time and need something done the proverbial monkey could do. I'm sure there are some excellent watchmakers familiar with Rolex in Dallas that would be perfect for these situations, I just don't know who they are. I'm sure some of the good folks here know of a good watchmaker or two in Dallas.

Why don't you give the Dallas RSC a call.
They should have a list of known Rolex knowledgeable watchmakers in the local area...
