Sub Date Opportunity. Advice?

Hey team,

AD called me today and they have a sub for me. This would be my 3rd purchase there in 2 months. Financially not sure if this makes sense for me and I was expecting next year. Thoughts??

Just put your foot on it and do not let someone else take it!

Honestly I would pass and let the next person who really wants it have it. Your AD would appreciate the kind gesture.

If you want it to wear, buy it. If not, there isn't much, if anything, to be made if you sell it.

I am that person. I think I need to just grab it and worry about the cash later.

I think there's value in purchasing it. If you're worried about being "that guy" who flips, resell it at cost (no profit).

The point of purchasing it would be to continue that relationship with the AD.

Buy first... question later. If you don’t want it, I will buy it.

Wow...wrong answer. If you have to think about “the cash”, you shouldn’t be buying it .

I worry about FOMO here.

It's only a watch, you don't have to have it, and it won't complete your life. And you have already bought two recently?? Based on this and the fact that it may not be within your budget at this time, I would be very cautious buying.

I have the funds and more than enough in my long term savings. I mostly use short term cash on these items and it just puts me behind a bit. I can always sell off some investments and pay for it.

Yep...this is what is driving this crazy market. Speculators and investors have driven the supply to levels where average consumers are making poor decisions because they feel they can’t miss the “opportunity”. It’s a damn Submariner! There are tens of thousands of them, and more being made every day.

My goal was to ultimately get this watch. I can always sell my blue Datejust in a snap

Financially is your business if you should wait or not. I'm sure you'll have another shot being such a good customer. Ok that's all the sense I can make. Now go get it tomorrow. A new Sub at retail is a good thing.

You should enjoy your other two watches. You will come across a Sub again. If we were discussing a Daytona then that’s another story.

I was in the same boat when I got the call for my sub but honestly after buying it I have no regrets on the purchase, it’s a classic.

I’d never buy a watch if I wasn’t in a financial place to do so

And this is why we are in a bubble. Your not the only one financially not ready and buying damn watches because of the hype.

No wonder grays are abusing the market. I would be making my millions as well buy taking advantage of all this and then I'd retire.

So many people are buying because of FOMO. Bit can’t blame them, you can buy now today and worst case you will break even. Best case you will make a little cash.

Let’s not over react here and be so judgmental on our fellow TRFer. He can easily sell any in his collection after he settles on his purchase. Life’s too short too not enjoy it .

Hey team,

I decided to pass on this opportunity. It just doesn’t feel like the right time financially. I discussed this with the AD and thanked them for their offer but I would prefer to wait until next year. I don’t feel buying this and flipping it is the right decision either and I would hate to buy, sell, and then come back in 6 months wanting another one. Probably not a good move in my end and I don’t feel it’s right. It’s my watch and can do as I please but someone else needs it right now.

The AD has been excellent and they understood my position.

I’m not rich but do okay so it’s best not to jump at something just because it’s hard to get. There is someone else in the financial position to buy who is dying for this watch and they deserve it right now.

My AD and salesman said they made the decision to offer to me because they enjoy my business and know I have a passion for these products and am not a flipper. I felt this was a great position to be in and despite not picking up the sub right now, I’ll have more opportunities in the future.

Enjoy your day everyone.
