Are TT sports models the next SS fad?

I am starting to realize since the beginning of this year most TT sports models arent making it into the show case. Is rolex trying to turn TT pieces into the next fad or are they really selling at high demands?

I must say some of the TT sports models are pretty nice looking and I could understand the demand is there but not to make it into the case is another level!

I think it's just a matter of time once it starts trickling down to the TT models. I remember seeing an article in the NYT about the resurgence of TT watches. Personally, I'm a fan.

Fad? Not yet, you'd certainly know it if it was. What it is are people gravitating towards more approachable models that look close enough to the steel counterparts. This is definitely true with models like the 116503.

The Subs and CHNR however are desirable in their own right and if Rolex continues putting out TT-only versions of specific models then customers have fewer options. Look at the new SeaDweller and CHNR. No choice.

Not at all. You can walk in and get a Bluesy at most ADs....they even put them in the case

I think the CHNR is the only readily available "new movement" GMT that can be had within a reasonable 3-6 months. That being said, it's not seeing more than an hour in a display case before it's gone. Plus it's a stunning watch and RG is "in." I can believe the $3k-$4k premium it is commanding since availability really seems to vary worldwide.

The older movement subs and GMTs in TT yellow gold are not hard to find. You just got to get them out of the vault by proving you're a serious buyer.

However, don't discount that many folks are considering TT watches because they don't want to wait. What's the point of waiting? If you want a Rolex buy a TT to wear now, why play AD games and wait 5-10 years to wear a SS with no guarantee?

I was offered the new sea dweller by an AD about 3 weeks after expressing interest in it (draw your own inference regarding demand there). Very nice watch in all aspects...really has it all. Except the part about being TT. I just couldn’t bring myself to get it for that reason. Maybe for a different crowd but for me SS is king. Unless we are talking day date.

I’m currently waiting for a TT Submariner, black dial from my AD, they said approximately a 3 month wait, they’ve taken a deposit too. I have an original BLNR from the same dealer. Originally I was looking for a SS LN or LV Submariner, I really like the TT Submariner with the black dial, it looks great to me and probably a little dressier than a standard Sub, plus it’s a bit different. I’m still wanting the LV and a GMT Pepsi over the next year or so after the TT Submariner arrives. I personally think the TT Submariner will become much harder to get

I just opened instagram and my feed has tonnes of TT models people are rocking. The young, the old and the rich and famous are all wearing them.

3 months isn’t that bad these days on any Rolex. Hope you get your piece delivered on time.

Did your AD mention anything about keeping hold of the warranty card for the watch? Last time I checked ADs only keep paper for the ss pieces but when I bought my 116518 they are taking away the card for a year.

I think that TT models are gaining popularity because of the lack of SS models at AD's. More people are looking at them/researching them and finding that the look may be growing on them.

I like a couple of TTs in the line up. The CHNR is by far my favorite, followed by the Bluesy. I think that the TT SkyD is a steal in the secondary market right now.

I will be interested to see what TT does and where it goes in the coming months.

Yes. That is the environment Rolex is creating. Demand is going up for everything.

There is no sense in buying stainless steel watches in the market at prices at or in some cases exceeding watches that contain precious metal anyway.

If you can get a TT retail, but only get a grey market sub, the difference in price is getting thinner.

What is a SubC grey in uk say, £8.5-9 ish new, the TT sub is what £10.3k?

£1500 odds in it.

I'm personally not fussed on standard TT, other than the CHNR that's a bit more muted in RG. Either go SS or PM.

I think it's a reflection of the SS shortage.
If not for that, I don't think any of the TT models would be kept out of the case.

TT rarely gets a positive response on TRF ,but the rest of the world buys them ..for decades !!

No SS so the next step for most is TT. I have typically fallen into the SS or PM and have stayed away from the TT models. I have owned several early in my collecting career though and liked them. I would advise anyone thinking of TT to understand where they will be when the market corrects and values adjust downward. My AD will not discount a TT Sport watch so paying full retail and tax. I jumped on the band wagon somewhat and have a couple of TT Tudors that I am into at the right amount of money. They are fun to wear. Reminds me of the late 80's-earily 90's.

TT never went away and it's not coming great again. Just same as usual. Like flat line.

TT Blue Sub is the perfect example! Love mine and so does many others! Great watch!

Nothing wrong with gold. Most old cool thing to own since BC times.
