GMT II 16713 Rootbeer Tiger Eye or GMT II 116713ln
I am currently trying to decide between a GMT II 16713 Root Beer Tiger Eye and a GMT II 116713ln. The 16713 is about 25 years old and the 116713ln is about 10 years old (but is in “as new” condition). The price on both is roughly the same.
I currently have a 16710 Pepsi, a 14060M, a 16613 Bluesy and a 116610lv Hulk. The idea of getting more vintage pieces appeals to me, but the condition of the 116713ln is far better than the 16713 (as is to be expected) and as they are both about the same price, I am leaning towards the 116713ln. Interested to hear others thoughts as to which I should go with. |

Get the 6 digit 116713LN. Far better imho especially if the price is about the same and condition is far better.
No comparison at all. |

I would go for the newer GMT II 116713ln every time.

I am partial to 4 and 5 digits, but if you like both watches equally, and for the same price, then get the one in the better condition, i.e. the 6 digit in your case.

Thanks all. I am certainly leaning towards the 116713ln.
I don’t think I would be happy with the condition of the 16713 Root Beer, and would end up wanting to replace it. The Jubilee band would have been nice though. All my current Rolexes are on Oysters, as is the 116713ln. |

Stuart,
I went through the same decision and finally bought a K-serial 16613 Root Beer last month. I sold my m- serial 116710 earlier this yr because it was never worn. before it's retirement, the vast majority thought the BLNR was so much better looking than the LN (can be verified by searching here) and was boring. At the time, used 6- digit Subs and BLNR we’re going for more than MSRP, used LN was still selling well below MSRP. There is a reason for that, it's not really a popular watch based on aesthetics. The BLNR in all but well lit areas, does the same as the LN (look dark) but the blue looks better than green. Plus, the green splashes look out of place & the GMT hand can be difficult to view against the black dial. Do yourself a favor and get a 16713 Root Beer. It's different, awesome 5-digit case design, and don’t have the fat lugs. Plus I doubt Rolex will ever remake this watch again using YG and a brown sunburst dial. Another thing is, you can dress down the Root Beer “pop” with a 16613 black bezel. You will be happy. Now if this specific 16713 isn’t in good enough condition, keep looking. Quote:

Just crossed the same bridge. 16713 every day of the week. Do something different semi vintage. Not making it any more. So classic.
