Question on jubilee link removal

Hey everyone-
Was going about resizing my jubilee for my SS BLRO this evening and when I removed the screw I noticed the middle of the link was loose and not connected to the rest of the link. This was specifically on the last link on the 6 o clock size of the bracelet. I’m assuming this is normal but wanted to check with others that have resized the bracelet in the same spot. I ended up taking one link out.

Question on jubilee link removal

Remove the screw as if you were going to remove a link. Flip the middle part of the link that was loose. Insert the screw back in, and tighten. Perhaps the center of the link got flipped around when you took the screw out.

Yep, that’s it. It’s fiddly to do it and has happened to me a number of times. As the above said, screw out, flip middle bit, screw back in.

When I look at the bracelet it would appear that this independent center piece is only its own piece where the bracelet attaches to the clasp, does that make sense?

Because the clasp has two outside pieces mounted to it, there would need to be an independent center piece in order to connect it to the first link? :scratcheshead:

Let me rephrase the question and see if that helps. You’re looking to take the first link out from the 6 o clock side of the clasp. You remove the screw and the bracelet separates...the small piece I circled in my original picture is now loose since it isn’t connected to the link or clasp, is that normal.

I had the same surprise several years ago when I removed that link from my wife's DJ31's jubilee. Since it was one of my earliest attempts at resizing a bracelet I was sure I had broken it somehow!

Yea that's how it's built. Easier to not undo that last screw so you don't have to chase the small pup piece.
