Adjusting a cal. 1520 Movement

I'm going to try to time this 1520 movement.

Do I need to remove the auto wind in order to loosen the screw that is under the reversing wheel, or will the adjustment arm move with that screw in place?

Just for the bump...

It doesn’t seem to make sense to have to remove parts to regulate. Possibly it is there as a stop to limit travel? You could use light pressure to see if the lever moves. It shouldn’t take much.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

That screw restricts movement of the stud holder. You loosen it and move the stud holder to adjust beat.

The arm with the three brass dots contains the curb pins which is what you want to move to regulate. It will move without loosening the stud holder screw so the auto mechanism doesn’t need to come off.
