Icon17 Servicing a DateJust

A Lady DateJust 79173 with caliber 2235 this time!

Bracelet is completely worn and will be replaced. Rotor is also quite shabby

The bridges are damaged by the rotor, and there's a lot of grime in the movement.

Movement goes into the cleaning machine, time to polish the case. Since the bracelet is going to be replaced this will be a quick polish

So is it while the parts are in the washing machine that you must change lab coats?

That is, from the white for movement work to the grey/green for polishing work?

Ladies are tough on watches lol.

The bridges were damaged from the rotor? must have been a long time between service.

Nice thread.
Are the date digits between 3 and 10 thinner or is it just the picture?

Yeah when I'm polishing I'm not wearing the white coat

Just a quick touch up against a cotton wheel. Not much you can do really.

Yeah this must have gone 10-15 years without service. Rotor axle was ground to shreds, then the rotor has too much play and can touch the bridges...

Thanks.
I think that is just the pic

Great pics, thread, write-up. I'm naturally OCD and tempted to criticize the owner for never cleaning the watch, but she more than makes up for it by actually wearing it!

I sadly suspect my wife's DJ will look like that in a few years... although I will keep the exterior a bit cleaner.

Thanks for the behind the scenes tour.

Really helps further put the “hairline scratch” threads into perspective. ;-)

Out of curiosity, how many hours do you have in a service such as this?

Also, Out of curiosity Bas, does that bracelet have an extra link in it? It looks like it would fit a huge wrist...
