What’s available at the local AD

So I went to my beloved local AD to buy some new screws for my GMT IIC. In the end, they just made the ones that I already owned look like new and charged me nothing. I was shocked, but really happy.

I saw a deal go down for a new Pepsi (it involved a god awful gold and diamond necklace). 37k later, the guy shoved the necklace into his briefcase and CAREFULLY put on his new watch.

I had some time to kill as they wrestled the screws out of the watch bracelet. Here is what’s available in the watches other than day, daydate, Cellini, etc.

Also, the Pepsi that I mentioned above, wasn’t in the display case. It was tucked under a cabinet on a different side of the store and it was in a big cardboard box.

Several yachtmasters and a Daytona. I’d say he has some decent stuff compared to other AD’s right now.

Wow. Well, we will see if Rolex adjusts its business model vis a vis the ADs.

The guy buying the Pepsi got bundled, in other words a lousy deal.

I spy a WG/Platinum YMII...

Love that watch! Almost never see that timepiece sitting inside a display case. Usually a special order...

Agreed. But ive been told by the manager at that delightful AD (not in so many words) that if you don't plan on buying a bunch of shiny rocks, you can forget about having the privilege of them selling you a "sports model".

It was interesting to see them pay me a TON more attention this time (now that I walked in wearing a GMT). It's pathetic.

Over the river at ST in the mall? I was there the last night with my Hulk and they were friendly. I asked about a Pepsi and they laughed.... and to think they had one sitting in the case the entire time

So help me get this straight - $37k for a Pepsi GMT?

Please tell me he wanted the necklace and while there, decided to add a watch.

I am having a hard time thinking of another example outside of modern Rolex life where this has happened. Maybe in instances of some real estate transactions?

What if the buyer only wanted the necklace? Maybe he is going to flip the Pepsi to offset the true cost of the necklace. In that case its not a lousy deal. Then its a great deal. (And him wearing the Pepsi out of the store does not mean he is not going to flip it.)

Reminds me of the same enthusiasm as a Hummer dealership use to be. Life is too short.
