Non-reflective sapphire crystal
If any brand could develop an AR crystal, Rolex could probably pioneer
the principle. They have the R&D horological deep pockets. Not a coating, but a sapphire or similar crystal with inherent or impregnated AR properties. AR coatings eventually will scratch like Breitlings or Tag Hr- Ginault has tried another crystal material that is AR, but don't know if it is a double coating or inherent. It would be a step in the right direction for Rolex, but the days of their responsiveness to customer base desires have slowed.... perhaps if the glare shown from the watch while swimming the English Channel? |

AR coating when applied on the inside is effective and obviously scratch resistant. Don't know why they still refuse to apply it besides date loupe.

The crystal flash is a long time rolex trademark. AR is ugly except for rolex almost clear Blue and purple tint are disgusting. Panerai had a light light yellow around the A series but now its a toy looking green (at least since the first 000)

^^ This.
I have a DJ41 and a Pelagos. The Pelagos has the AR coating inside the crystal, and the clarity of the crystal is seriously diminished. It looks terrible in comparison to the Rolex crystal, which is super clear and shows the dial with the utmost clarity. The Pelagos crystal looks terrible. And I LOVE the Pelagos. I should have it removed by a watchmaker. It's nasty. And I don't notice any difference in reflections between the two. |
