Post Your Organically Brushed Watch Parts

I never really paid attention to how the polished parts of my Submariner have essentially become brushed and uniform. Looks pretty cool in my opinion. This is about 2.5-3 years of consistently wearing it.

I also toothbrush clean it with ultrasonic cleaner about once a week.

This is how one should expect a well-worn watch to appear.

If you’d like uniformity then consider replacing the toothbrush with a scotchbrite for the regular washing.

what do you do with it? I'd love mine to reach this stage but 1 year in of desk diving and bike riding has left me with only a fraction of the wear on yours

I honestly don't know how it got to this point. I feel like it just did. The most strenuous thing I do at work is change watch batteries, which range anywhere from 0-15 a day, but it's not like I'm banging the watch around every time I do it. I'm also typically careful with all of my belongings. I think maybe I just got a few scratches early on then completely ignored/wasn't phased by any future ones.

I will admit, I am much more careful when wearing my Explorer.

Jesus. Are you using steel wool to clean it?

That looks like a lot more than 3 years of hard use. One of my subs basically lives in my scuba bag and isn’t even a fraction of that beat.

Wow. very impressive Sub there.
maybe.. the most loved Sub I have seen so far.. which leads me to wonder how the face of the watch looks like.

Great job enjoying your watch OP.

I hope this thread is at least as popular as the “omg I scratched my watch” threads

That is impressive.

Makes me want to see one fully brushed. I believe I saw someone on here send their Exp to LAWW to get fully brushed, bezel and all.

Nice sub!
I’ve been wearing my 16610 for over 8.5 years. It’s on my wrist for basically everything

Geez, I thought my wife was tough on watches, but you guys got her beat.

But hey, it's a watch, meant to be worn, so I don't see an issue. It's called patina.

While I don’t think you can be OCD about your watch’s appearance, but I think you can’t be on the other side of the spectrum either. My preferences of course!

I had no idea this would draw that much attention or be one of the more beat up Subs on here lol.

One thing that honestly slipped my mind is that I'm a righty and was wearing this on my right wrist for about two years until I got wrist surgery on my left and felt comfortable wearing it on there again. That definitely had a lot to do with the case scratches as the 9:00 side was exposed more.

Anyway, a few more pics to come. Also, there's not a single scratch on the crystal or bezel.

edit - I've never had a problem posting pics on Tapatalk but it's not working. Maybe too graphic.

It’s the same tooth brush I’ve used multiple times on countless other watches that aren’t scratched like this one.
