How did you get your Daytona 116500 from AD

How long you had to wait to get it ?
What did you buy from the AD to be able to get the daytona ?

How did you get your Daytona 116500 from AD

Walked in off the street. First time. Asked what watches they had. SA pulled out the catalog and pointed to the white 16500, black 16500, BLNR, SD43, and the Hulk.

I bought the white 116500.

Had to wait about 5 minutes for the SA to pull the watch out of the safe.

Received mine in late January the year following its release at Basel. So 10 months. Built a great relationship over the years with the AD with prior purchase history of watches I wanted, no bundle BS. Still on list for the black dial.

If you purchased from an AD then well done.

Yes, it was from an AD. Tax free at MSRP.

So what’s the story? Are you a celebrity? A known millionaire? Or was this a long time ago?

I believe you, just that I wasn’t expecting a story like yours.

It's a bit disingenuous not to explain the circumstances imho.
OP, he got lucky at an airport AD and they happened to have just gotten a shipment and they didn't have waiting lists. Basically struck lightning in a bottle.

I got mine from my AD that I've bought from and have referred people to. I was also the first person to call them on day 1. It took me 1 year.

I’m just a humble guy who likes watches. The purchase was last year.

As noted above, it was from an airport AD. I don’t know if they have waiting lists or not.

Happy for Roger, great find. I’ve also seen the exact same coffin photo and read the exact same story about 5 times in the last 2 weeks here on TRF!

I haven’t been this far able to source one, but my AD (where I am first on the “list”) say it will be another 8-9 months.

I have a hard time believing the walk in off the street story. Everyone and every store is aware of the current SS sports situation, which has been the situation for SS Daytona’s for at least 12 years.

An interesting derivation of the OP question would be:

How much lifetime spending did you have at your AD when you received your white 116500? Black 116500?

I was offered a place on the list as a sweetener to seal a deal on my first purchase from them which was a 116613LB in July 2016. I have since bought 3 other Rolex from them, sent them many customers, one of which got his 116500 within about 3 months and I still haven’t got one. It was also hinted recently that I probably won’t get one either.....

I had purchased an engagement ring and one other watch from them. Had only been a customer for about 6 months because I was new to the area.

Got black one in July of 2016 and white one exactly 1 year later. I have been working with my AD or owner for 17 years so not exactly a new relationship.

The same thing happened to me. Only replace, "white 16500, black 16500, BLNR, SD43, and the Hulk" with "two-tone ladies DateJusts, a YachtMaster 2 and a Millgauss" and "I bought the white 116500 " with "I left empty handed and disappointed."

True story.

My friend has a history with the AD. We Went to the AD in January 2019, he bought a WG Daytona that he wanted and requested a SS Daytona for me. Waited for 3 month, got it in April 2019.

Telemarketers keep calling around dinner time asking me if I would be interested in a Daytona for investment purposes. Caved in and finally said yes.

Inquired with my AD about the black dial model in September 2016 and got the watch in May 2017 so about 8 months in all. I had only purchased one watch from them before so was very fortunate to be able to get my hands on one.

Took about 9 months to get a black dial. I’ve only purchased one other watch before but always recommend them to my friends. I’m still waiting for a white dial and it’s over two years now.
