UK incoming

Well, the day finally arrived and I can’t tell you how happy I am.

It’s been a week of turmoil as I started off with being diagnosed with Bells Palsy .. which didn’t put a grin on my face .. literally, if you’ll pardon the pun.

So to get a call from my AD yesterday to tell me that the Submariner I put my name on the list for, back in the beginning of April this year, had arrived and was sitting in his safe with my name on it really lifted my spirits. It was late in the day so I had to put my excitement on hold till this morning.

Now, if that wasn’t enough, the service department emailed to let me know my DD was back from service and could be collected at my convenience.

Mrs P and I trotted in to town before the weekend rush this morning, and were given the full experience yet again by my AD and my SA who has looked after me for longer than I care to mention.

A very special day, picking up two Rolex watches along with a bag of complimentary stuff that added to the whole experience .... and .... my warranty card left with me, along with bezel protector, hang tags and everything else you expect when you pay for your watch.

I still can’t smile because of the paralysis in my face at the moment, but I’m grinning from ear to ear inside.

Nice! Sorry to hear about your health issues. Would they not let you buy the green dial Daytona?

I was shown the Daytona as it was part of the arrival yesterday but kept my focus on the Submariner I’d set my heart on.

A beautiful watch in the flesh, pictures don’t do it justice, just not my style.

I’ve got a few messages in my inbox with regards to the Daytona so thought it best to answer all here as I’m detecting a theme, which is not surprising to be fair on you all.

I’m sorry people, but the Daytona is sold ... no surprise really.

I’m very fortunate with my AD that our relationship is such that I get to see pieces on the odd occasion I’m in or when I’m lucky enough to have something to collect, he would love to see me with a Patek so we are working in that direction next.

Sorry to disappoint folks ... I threw it in as it was a part of my day and a pleasure to see one in the flesh compared to pics.

Thanks for all of the well wishes on my BP, I have to admit I’m still buzzing after my visit so it’s at the back of my mind today.

Oh my, that DD is something else! Quick question, did that bracelet originally come with the watch? The head looks like it should have a bark bracelet?

Good eye.

The watch came to me in need of some love.

It references as a bark model but somewhere in its life it had the bezel changed and the centre links polished.

Rolex insisted on the replacement bezel from the fluted one I sent it in with and I agreed 100%, even though it hurt a little more on top of a service and new crystal.

The plan now is for Michael Young to work his magic with refurbish of the bracelet and returning the centre links to bark, again, an additional cost, but the end result will be worth it for my grail.
