Ap 14790

Hey guys, I’ve been looking around for a Royal Oak that’s on the thinner side and have come across the 14790. The watch comes with box and papers. The papers are dated 2005 but I’ve heard back then that sometimes papers were left blank at time of sale and filled in at a later date (I suppose I could pay for a copy of the archives if I really wanted to know definitively). The service history is unknown, which worries me if I need to get the watch serviced soon and I’ve heard servicing from AP is expensive, while servicing with an independent watchmaker would be cheaper but can be risky. What should I factor in to my purchase decision as a service cost from AP in a worst case scenario? Thanks in advance for your help!

Just buy from a trusted, well respected source that allows no hassle returns. You can find AP almost anywhere. If you are worried about the deal, don't do it and move on to a better seller.

Thanks for the advice. It’s a shame in this case because I really like the watch but the terms of the deal I’m not a fan of (no warranty and no returns).

Had my 2004 14790 serviced and the cost was $980 plus tax. The service on 14790’s aren’t as bad as the 4100’s.

Would just keep the cost in the back of your mind when deciding.

Service only through AP. Why not ask the seller how it's keeping time? If it is a reputable seller then I think just be prepared to send it to AP as a worst case scenario

If you're unsure about the seller - I'd walk away. Always buy the seller first

The seller says the watch is keeping time just fine. The seller has sold a number of these watches in the past and has good references. My concern here is really the terms (no warranty and no returns), not the seller.

I'd personally look for a model with large indices. Looks a bit better and easier to sell should the time come to let it go.
