15400 blue trade for blue steel Skydweller
I recently got my 15500st blue dial so I am not wearing my 15400 blue anymore. Long story short I have been proposed a trade from an associate. He wants to trade a blue dial Skydweller for it. I don’t feel it’s a fair trade but I told him I would if he offered some 5k in cash. He hasn’t gotten back to me yet. Did I ask for too much? Was the original trade fair?

Awful trade. Go sell it for $29k on chrono24 instead.

You def need a healthy amount of cash back to you, check chrono24 for a fair premium.

How do I say this correctly? UNEQUIVOCALLY no, please do not make that trade straight up. I think you are being rather generous by only asking for 5k on top. He's a fool if he doesn't accept that. The 15400 blue is an incredible piece, and the finishing compared to a skydweller is night and day. I understand you wanting to trade the 15400 for something else as you now have the 15500, but make sure you are getting fair value before making any transactions

If so the blue dial SkyD is a very difficult watch to get retail. Grey dealers are charging around $22-23K. A preowned 15400 is trading for approximately the same dollars or a bit more. However, if you are getting $5K in cash, I say its a good deal. OTOH, if you had access to a blue dial SkyD at retail then it would be a bad deal. |

I think your offer is totally fair. You would be getting into the skydweller at close to retail plus tax and its a great addition to your 15500st. I have the 15500st blue and had the skydweller blue. Yes AP finishing is night and day better but the Rolex is no slouch. And it is damn near impossible to get one at retail. Much harder to source than a 15400 blue ever was.
