DJ41 feels good, better than holy trinity?

I have been wearing a blue 126300 DJ41 for a majority of last month and I felt as a day to day watch it's better than an AP Royal Oak or even a Nautilus. Had a 15300 and I felt it's not as solid as the DJ41. Never worn a 5711 extensively so I don't know the difference myself.

For sure we have members here with all of these models. Do you feel the DJ41 that good too?

In my experience, Rolexes tend to feel more solid than other sports watches. I owned a RO and tried on some Pateks back when they were available. I'm hard on watches so I prefer Rolex. That said, I'm looking at buying an Aquanaut. It seems pretty solid.

My steel fluted DJ2 feels much more rugged since I got my AP 15500st

DJ movement (3235) in terms of reliability and cost of ownership can’t be compared to anything put out by AP.

Can speak on the holy trinity but I could wear mine 24/7. Love the look. Feels substantial yet light with a perfect comfy fit. It just right.

I dont think so.

An AP15400 finishing and feel is not even on the same level as a DJ41.

Very different watches. My AP ran laps around any of my rolex pieces in terms of finishing and sheer elegance, but I do agree Rolex (and omega) felt much more durable and rugged.

I would say it’s more reliable and better as a practical day-to-day watch.

This has something that has kind of been lost in the Rolex shortage hysteria IMO. The robustness and reliability of a Rolex.

I preferred my DJ to my 5711; it just felt more rugged and durable. Sold the 5711 and bought a DD40. Despite all the praise, Patek don’t make me feel confident.
Mind you, I know a lot of experienced watch owners who would disagree! And the dial on the 5711 looks fabulous.

depends on your criteria. wearing habits, wearing preferences, or whatever are subjective

what is objective is the watchmaking and finishing of a DJ is nowhere near AP or PP level

Doesnt mean the DJ cant be a better watch for you though

DJ better daily wearer than a Rolex, sure, just as a Casio is even more worry free than a Rolex.

If anyone needs a great watch, your choice would be the best they could make. If they need a "show piece" I guess AP or PP,etc. would fill that bill better. Congratulations on a fantastic watch.

I really like my fluted bezel DJ41 for how versatile it is. It has enough elegance to fit in as a daily wear in a professional environment, sufficient bling to wear on a night out, and adequate ruggedness to go about the daily routines.

I've got a great watch and a show piece, its my DJ41 on a jubilee with a sunburst rhodium dial, just perfect for the nights out, during the day and casual at weekends.

Its funny, I was surprised by how heavy the bracelet is on my 15500. Feels really solid to me. I do worry about its relatively poor water resistance compared to rolex. I dont swim in it...

Really like this one, but I’d ditch it in a heartbeat for a 15300 (which I’d wear the crap out of)

It wears comfortably, got good looks, versatile and just the right size. I think this model is very underrated, considering the crazy prices of the sports model nowadays. This one gives the best bang for your bucks!

I never bought into the “holy trinity” label for those horological houses. History has a way of changing the significance of watch brands.

I agree that PP and even AP are far less durable and rugged, but finished to a far superior standard.

The watch that has a more rugged feel than PP and AP, although the movement will not stand the same beating as a Rolex is the VC Overseas! It’s big and beefy like a Rolex, not thin and dainty feeling like PP and to a lesser extent AP. The bracelet on the VCO is substantial as well with screws on every link.

I’ve owned the AP 15400 and the VC Overseas. They are both gone but my DJ41 remains.

As pretty as it is with jubilee and fluted bezel, i think the flat bezel with oyster fits the sporty term a lot better.

Since when is "feeling solid or durable" a measure of haute horology? They may feel more fragile but APs and Pateks are plenty durable.

My AP Carbon diver held up better than my previous DSSD after 5+ years of daily wear. I do love the weight and accuracy of my updated DSSD that is currently my daily beater but one of the main reasons it's my daily beater is because my APs and Patek have risen in value too quickly and cant keep up with the insurance.
