Help needed Rolex submariner or omega speed master Apollo 50th anniversary
Hi, see if you guys can help out, looking at purchasing a watch and my dealer has two watches I like and cannot decide on which to go for, I know this forum is full of Rolex supporters but I’m sure there are also omega supporters here too...
Which would you buy the Rolex submariner no date or the omega speedmaster Apollo 50th anniversary? I have my opinions but want to see what you guys think...thanks |

Nice choice to make! The Submariner is such a classic with long term appeal, but the Speedy is very enticing given it's the 50th anniversary year of the moon landing. I'd personally favor the Speedy by a hair given it's uniqueness. Both would be great if funds permitted. Good luck in your decision. Cheers!

I love Omega. But I would say the Sub if it's your one and only. If you're going to get the 50th, I would suggest waiting as I'm guessing it will be available below retail in some time.

Sub. Speedy can't (shouldn't) get wet and they announce a new limited edition Speedy on the hour.

The 50th isn't about to lose value any time soon I don't think. It's already c£4 -£5k over retail and you can't buy from any AD or Omega directly.. believe me.ive tried. I also think it looks more special than the sub..I have compared my sub to a friends 50th speedy and the speedy was night and day the prettier watch to look at do much so I wanted one immediately only to find out it's impossible unless paying a lot extra. I would personally get the 50th as they're limited and you can get the sub later

So your choice is a stunning Speedmaster commemorating one of the greatest exploratory achievements of the 20th century...or a Sub like the other 10 million out there.
And you have to ask?!? |

In the Omega, there are still many to deliver, in Chrono24 there are almost 50 units and they are no longer sold so easily, I would buy the Sub, the Omega, when they have delivered the large amount that is still missing, they will fall in price.

Unless I was just putting it in a safe to speculate, I would get the SUB. Now, for me, it would be a harder call if the choice was between the speedy and the sub. They are, in my opinion, the two most iconic watch designs ever.

That's asking price. Jomashop had some for sale during the week for US$7995, and unsurprisingly they disappeared quickly. There are 7000 of these, and I doubt the current asking price is sustainable. I concur with the view expressed by @othertbone. |

I value and honor the magnitude of the moon landing as much as the next guy.
But it makes the watch look cheesy having an image of it on it’s face. Like having any image on any watch face, like Snoopy or Mickey. Along that line, I also wouldn’t care for an anniversary Submariner with an image of Jacques Cousteau or James Bond on it, either. As to the question at hand, as far as I’m concerned, you can’t go wrong choosing a Rolex Submariner over any other watch, any time, anywhere. Michael |

If it was my only nice watch I would go with the Submariner. If I was adding to collection then Omega.
