Can a Sub C Date and a Black Bay 58 exist in same collection?

Would like to get the BB58 but already own a Sub. As my collection stands I have the Sub , Datejust 41 blue jubilee , Explorer 39 and SS Skydweller white dial.

Does the 58 fit into this collection or should I move the Sub? Just like to see what you guys/gals think.

i have a sub c date and im planning to add a bb58 later on.

i keep the sub on the oyster bracelet w/ glidelock. but on the bb58 i would further try and differentiate it from the sub by wearing it on some type of nato or fabric strap. (im thinking it would look great on a Bond Dr. No style nato).

Of course they can stay in the same collection. They are pretty different from each other! One is vintage inspired with no date, subdued tones and aluminium bezel. The other one is clearly more modern and shiny with ceramic bezel and date. They have a very different vibe.

They can, but the BB wouldn’t see much wrist time if it were me

Well I would say they can exist in one collection. As far as divers go, I have SubC, BBN ETA, Tudor Sub.

Keep the Sub, once the honeymoon is over you may keep reaching for the Sub. Not dogging the 58 but I wouldn't make a rush decision on letting one go in anticipation of liking another. It just reminds me of the same thought and similar situation I had when purchasing an Omega SM300 Sub. I tried one on and thought I liked it but once I wore it a few times that was it for me, it couldn't replace my Sub. Thankfully I didn't buy the Omega at a boutique , I gladly broomed it and still took a bath.

You already have a Submariner date. A Black Bay would be redundant. Unless you’re “really” into collecting Rolex/Tudor divers.

I got the BB58 first and just got my sub. I seriously doubt I'm going to wear my BB much now. I will say the vintage vibe is nice. The size, the rose gold markers and the red accent are all very attractive, but that said, I'm probably going to sell mine since I won't wear it much. The SubC is that good

Of course they can coexist the 58 is a downsized heritage based tribute and the Sub C a modern iteration. Visually the 58 is the more interesting piece on the wrist, the Sub undeniably a higher quality piece but a little more sterile looking and wears considerably bigger due to the squared off lugs.

The Sub C will always sit on it's Oyster but the 58 can be dressed up and down with leather or nato's as it is an acknowledged strap monster.

People stating they have a Sub now and would never wear the 58 is a little odd, have they not heard of rotation!?

The Rolex sub is like a Lexus IS sedan, the Tudor is like a Toyota Camry sedan. Once u drive the Lexus, you won’t wanna go for the Toyota cos of the brand, prestige and enjoyment difference.

I’ve went thru the same dilemma to add a Tudor BB58 or Tudor GMT, but I know the Tudor will have very little wrist time after the honeymoon period when I already got the black GMT, Air King and now a Bluesy competing for attention. And a sub 114060 in the waiting list.

I think if I had that collection, I would keep the Sub and find something else to add to the collection. I find the BB58 and the Sub pretty similar. I am with Daniel, add a chronograph to your collection, or a GMT?

I don’t think they can go together. The Submariner is in a different league to the BB. There’s no point in having both.

Yes, because the BB58 is like a vintage style sub and the SubC the modern version.

Absolutely they can coexist. Love my 58! I get more complements on it than my Subs, not that it matters. The 58 is a special watch.

I would get the Tudor GMT instead of the 58 if you want to stretch the Tudor itch.

I was all excited about the Black Bay steel and gold. Then I made the mistake of holding it next to a two-tone black sub, and suddenly it was just really obvious that the BB wasn't on the same level (which you'd expect, for the price difference).

I like Tudor a lot, but I feel like if you already own a bunch of Rolexes you're going to be very aware of where the BB58 falls short.

It could for me....though only if the BB58 were the black or blue version. I like divers (I'm a dive instructor). But sometimes prefer something more under the radar, a space which the BB58 could fill. Hope this helps.

Lots of folks like the BB58. But if both were sitting on my dresser, I can’t think of a reason why I’d pick it up over the Sub. And the idea of selling a sub to get a bb58 just baffles me, unless I needed the dough.
