Submariner 16610 crystal replacement
Hey guys,
My 16610 is pretty well scratched and I want to replace it. My watchmaker can source genuine parts and I asked him for a 16610 crystal. From what I have seen, the 16610 and 116610 have different crystals (the 116610 has AR under the cyclops), I asked him if he can source a 16610 crystal and he said that he can't... Now my question is, is it true that the crystals are different? Is it going to be a problem putting a 116610 crystal on a 16610? I am putting a picture of my watch for reference... Thank you all in advance! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bfG...w?usp=drivesdk |

Someone may correct me but I’m 99% sure the 16610 will NOT accept a 116610 crystal/ gasket. The set ups are completely different and to keep things period correct depending on your year of 16610 your crystal may have a LEC may not, may have AR or may not.

I think that a 116610 will fit but will make it incompatible due to the AR on the crystal... I hope more people will answer so we have a clear answer... I wonder what’s going to happen if you send a 16610 to Rolex for a crystal replacement |

Quite simple it will be replaced with a 16610 crystal as close to the date of your watch manufacture. But myself would budget for a fall service and have crystal replaced then if needed not a big deal whether A/R coated or not..

The part number for the crystal is the same root whether it is an AR coated version or not.

I hope you’re right... many times I have seen people with an AR crystal with a 16610 claiming the watch was serviced... I’d be positively surprised to find out that Rolex uses the correct crystal for a 16610. Thanks!
