Thought. Trade my hulk for an AP
Hi,
I’m thinking about trading my Hulk for a 15450 white Royal Oak. I like the APs and specifically the Royal Oak line a long time. Until now they were just out of reach. But with money I could get by trading/selling the Hulk, I Just need to add let say 3000 dollar on top. I own the Hulk since 2 years as my daily (so no flipper here) and buying the Royal Oak while keeping the Hulk is no option. What do you think about? Should I wait until next Basel World eventuall discontinuation of the Hulk? Thanks for your inputs.

If your only adding $3000 on top that is a no brainer for me. 1000000% do that deal as long as the AP is in good condition. The 15450 is a great watch!!! And its AP - your stepping up your game.

Why? How much you think its going to go up? - there are 10s of 1000s of LVs everywhere. Watchtradingco has at least 12 in the safe right now to purchase immediate next day delivery.

Another facetious reply that seem to appear on this forum all the time. Of course it will go up if discontinued at Basel. Are you aware that the 116710 BLNR is everywhere yet still went up when discontinued? You’re argument is so flawed yet you think you’re being clever and making patronising comments towards another member to boot - not a good look

2 weeks ago, I swapped my GMT LN and BLRO plus £2250 for the blue dial 15400. So, I would say “yes” go AP. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Sorry but I can’t see what you see in the AP. To me it looks too plain and unconvincing, don’t get me wrong I’m not into bling that’s why I wouldn’t get a Daytona.
It’s only my opinion, and if we were all the same the world wouldn’t go round. |

I like the LVC but think its a good chance to get into an AP. Lvc will not be discoed but may get the new mvmnt so price change won't be significant to wait till Basel.

Depending on what you have in the Hulk you could leverage those funds plus a little more and get a different, more expensive watch. The question is do you like the AP more than the Hulk? If the answer is yes, then go for it. If the Hulk is discontinued it will be replaced at some point and it is not a rare watch though it is desirable in the current market. Have some fun and do what you want. Wear what you can afford and want. When you want something else, get it. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I’m not a big fan of the LV. So I’ll say go for the Ap it’s beautiful.

The way I look at it ... you enjoyed your Hulk, it’s selling now at a premium, you would like to obtain the AP RO ... that’s a perfect scenario. Do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Keep the Hulk. Save up and get the RO. Everyman needs a rolex and the hulk is a keeper

If you don’t like the hulk anymore, then do the trade. I believe the hulk is a keeper.

I am new 15500ST owner and I can tell you that since owning it even trying on full PM GMTs and subs at ADs does not impress me. AP is really on another level. My only caveat in your situation would be if you have another watch to daily since you say you daily the LV. I can not daily the AP in my line of work so you have to think about that before flipping a sub into a RO.

I would wait until Basel. Meantime you can pester AP about the exact 15450 you want and secure an allocation.

I owned a RO for a nano-second. I loved it in principle but once on the wrist it was meh. I would trade up for a Daytona, or keep it if you like the Hulk.

For long term investment, I’d keep the hulk . Both are very nice pieces. The AP wears large so be aware of that. The hulk is an everyday casual, dressy watch and is as versatile as the AP. THE DEAL You are proposing is a fair trade right now, but I believe in 20 years the Hulk will be worth far more than that piece for which you’re trading—and if not, it will sell to a far wider audience than AP .
So to me, a watch is a watch. I’ll be bored with an AP the same as a hulk but the hulk long term , may hold its value to a wider audience. Ultimately these prices will crash ... this market cannot likely sustain itself forever, and I think Rolex has a universal appeal even beyond patek long term... I may be incorrect, but keep the hulk unless you actually dislike it.. also, talk to people outside this forum about AP and Rolex service costs and headaches..weigh the two long term beyond aesthetics. They’re both beautiful pieces. At day’s end, do the deal if you really want the AP..Were it me, I’d keep the hulk and know it’s beautiful. |

You obviously don’t know much about the current AP market (respectfully).

No brainer choice for me. AP is really a different animal, and hulk is not really my cup of tea.
Just know that 15450 is pretty short on links and you'll most likely end up needing one or more additional bracelet links(not cheap) |

Thought. Trade my hulk for an AP
Quote:
This should not be a problem. If I got through it, I plan to buy it from an AD. So one two link shouldn’t cost an arm. Concerning the bracelet, does it fit comfortable? Since there is no micro adjustments like on the subs bracelet. I already try a 15450 at my AD but of course I could not close it. Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk
