Cotton Bowl Day-Date Tudor - Stan?

Really?!

themotts222( 2019)
Authentic Players Watch. The player is JOHN LEE. The watch states 1974 Cotton Bowl Classic. It has the day on top and date on right. It is working fine. No problem at all. It definately needs to be cleaned. There are some scratches to the face, no deep ones-no eyesores. The back of this watch states Case by Rolex Geneva Original Oyster . Then JOHN LEE in the center. I do not know the history of this player. This was purchased at auction with some other things that belonged to him. Thanks for looking. Good Luck Bidding.

...mmmm...

...I have never seen anything like this.

...it could very well be genuine and customized by the shop that sold them.

...albeit, it looks like a HORRIBLE dial.

...there are new and used dials on eBay occasionally that could possibly be replaced. Of course, it depends on the mvm't cal.

Stan.

A lot of times I will post listings for informational/discussion purposes. We do not take watches down!

I think by making this statement, you may be suggesting otherwise.

Thanks for the other posting. I agree with Stan, the initial impression on that DIAL was questionnable...

Dial is fine.

And let me rephrase! Sorry! "Don't turn this in to Lady Caspar as a fake watch so she thinks it is fake and then takes it down!"
;)

Doing a little research, John Lee was a senior tackle for Nebraska in 1974. Cornhuskers over the Texas Longhorns, 19-3.

First, correct spelling is Lady Casper!

Second, it's all fun and games....until someone loses an eye!

devils advocate here guys but the listing title says "AUTHENTIC 1974 COTTON BOWL CLASSIC PLAYERS ROLEX WATCH"

its a TUDOR not a ROLEX!

so where is the line drawn then guys?
is this one allowed to breach listing policies?
and if so why?

I see what you mean. this is one of those danged gray areas. I hate gray area's. Rolex did make them and many even say "Rolex" on the back or the bracelet. So I guess the guy gets a pass on that issue.

No Jeff, there is no gray here. The watch might be genuine but , it is a Tudor watch, not a Rolex watch. In fact, this listing never mentions anything about it being a Tudor, but clearly calls it a Rolex. Although it might not be intentional, it is a deceptive and an incorrect listing and should be dealt with accordingly. The seller, as well as many potential buyers, don't know the difference between the two.

The listing should be corrected to read what type of watch he is selling.

sorry i dont agree TTG/onkyo/Jeff
if someone who does not know about the Rolex/Tudor conection buys this thinking its a Rolex then thats wrong
the listing is wrong and possibly in breach of ebay policies
there has to be a line drawn and stuck to guys imo
not having a pop at anyone but i think if this is ok then a lot of others that have been taken down were ok too
