Tudor GMT: contemplating

A milestone birthday is fast approaching, the wife wants gift ideas, and you can guess what I’ve said.

Tried this GMT on today. I do like it, but I cannot yet decide if I like it enough to own it. I’d be keen to hear your thoughts on this piece...

I own it on bracelet and it's been my go to watch for the past year. Mine did have the date issue shortly after purchase (July 2018) but was quickly repaired. It also keeps the best time of any watch I have ever owned. It started taking up so much wrist time that I let go of my other GMT which was a Polar 216570.

I absolutely love the matte dial. It's my first and only Tudor and I love it. I chose the bracelet.

i just ordered that watch on the fabric strap. If the watch doesn't speak to you pick on that does. There no other Tudor (or Rolex) on your wish list?

My Tudor GMT has gotten most of my wrist time this past year. Fantastic watch. Get it on the bracelet. You can always buy some other kind of strap later if so inclined.

I love my Tudor GMT. Purchased the bracelet version. Can always add a strap at a cheaper cost than adding a bracelet later at a dearer cost.

Great Watch. Very vintage Rolex vibe but bolder. Ditch the suit and wear it with jeans and a t-shirt!

I really don't like the date windows on any of the current Black Bay line. They look poorly finished and in general just stick out like a sore thumb. I've got a $400 Seiko with a better looking date window.

Not much of a Tudor fan because of the hands but that's a nice looking watch.

I bought this watch in December...and then fell in love with something else, so I sold the GMT in March. I had immediate seller’s remorse.

So, I bought another one and am nuts about it!


I love it on the bracelet and have enjoyed it on the Tudor fabric strap as well. I have an Everest strap for the black bays, and though I have yet to try it on here, I am sure it would also be comfortable.

The key reason I like this watch is that in spite of the relative case thickness, the bevels on the underside of the case plus the rounded caseback render it supremely comfortable for me.

Of course, I’m also a Sea-Dweller nut, so I don’t have an aversion to thick watches. YMMV.

Could not be happier w/ mine. Freakishly accurate and can't help but smile every time I look at it. Bought it on leather, which I plan to use this winter. Also bought and fell in love with the rivet bracelet.

Owned it. It has A+ design and quality. Mine never had the date issue, and was a reliable tool watch.

I only sold it due to the thickness on wrist. I just felt it was a little too thick and 'slab sided' for my taste.

Otherwise I'd still have it today.

It's a must have. I have several great watches to choose from, and this past year the GMT Tudor (on the steel bracelet) has got most of my wrist time. I usually like smaller watches (40mm), I have several Rolex(es), but Tudor is so comfortable and so perfectly balanced that you forget that it is a "bigger" watch. It doesn't look nor feel big. The finish is perfect, it feels like it will last forever, 3 days reserve... great piece. It has become one of my favorite... And you can even take it scuba diving...

It’s a great watch. But it’s big. Try a black bay on first to see if it might be for you. A 16710 it is not (from someone that has had both and kept the Rolex)

If you're buying because you can't get a BLRO, I wouldn't. There is simply no replacement for the "real Pepsi". Otherwise, it's a great watch and I love mine (no date issue, got it July 2018).

I love my Tudors (BB41, Ranger) I need to give them more wrist time (guilty) they are great quality tool watches. If your not 100% sure dont do it. I made that mistake a couple of months ago on an new Omega, thankfully I didn't buy it at a boutique but I still took a hit selling it.

Thank you all for the very balanced and honest comments.
Having spoken with Mrs.S, she likes the GMT, however....she also likes the Black Bay Bronze. I’ve not seen one in person but it does look quite smart. Having said that, the more I look at this GMT, the more it grows on me.

Anyone of us own a BB Bronze...? Do share your insights.

Consider the price point and that of the Rolex GMT's. I love my Tudor GMT. The leather and fabric factory optional straps are great too.
