Spotted a scammer on Chrono24, quickest way to shut him down?

I reported him using the “report a suspicious listing” button, but just want to make sure I’m doing all I can to prevent someone from being duped...

Chrono24 is almost like the Wild West.

Thought chrono24 was considered kinda safe? (Except private sellers)

It’s a private seller. The listing is nothing but shady, but figured it might still trick someone.

What makes you think the private seller is shady? Why should we believe you are more credible? Post photos or a link for us to see and describe your issue. If you buy from chrono 24, the payment stays with chrono 24 until you verify the purchase then the funds are released to the seller. As a private seller on Chrono 24 my self I am more concerned with the credibility of the buyers. Same reason most trusted sellers on TRF and online don't accept credit cards or paypal payments unless you are a known purchaser.

Sorry, apparently I need to post more than 10 times before the forum allows me to post links. However, the listing contains a dozen pictures, 10 of which are of a 16610 sub with engraved rehault, one is of a 16610 without engraved rehault, and one is a 116610. All the pictures are somewhat poor, so it’s plausible many would fail to catch the differences. The asking price is $5400, well below market value. There are numerous other red flags as well contained within his correspondence with me. If you search for 16610 subs it will be the cheapest one.

Update: Chrono24 contacted me via email stating that the listing was deactivated due to seller being “potentially untrustworthy.” For what it’s worth, he kept trying to get me to move our communications to email and stated that it would be safest for both parties for me to simply wire him money (lol), so I’m not sure if I would have been able to be burned had I insisted we do everything through the website. Thanks everyone.

Yep just report them to c24. And only buy from the trusted sellers there (not the TRF term, but the chrono24 trusted sellers) with 100+ transactions and read the reviews. I also look up the local address and read the local yelp and google reviews too.

Chrono not that safe

A colleague of mine was scammed on chrono, so don’t bank on them.
If you spot any false listing don’t fail to report.

Ha! Once again , DO NOT wire money to anyone . Pay with AMX !! If seller is a crook , you simply dispute the charge ! Period, case closed. Op glad you got rid of the naughty boy. Thanks. Friends it certainly is important to check seller out but even after checking out - use trusted seller and Amx for payment. At very least ALWAYS use Amx. Anyone who disagrees with this simple solution to every scam , just tell me how they can get your money when you follow this rule? Thanks for reading:-) james in SA

Spotted a scammer on Chrono24, quickest way to shut him down?

I’m currently off work following a cycling mishap and came across Chrono24 during a period of boredom .

I’m sure there are shady sellers/scammers behind a number of the almost 1/2 million items for sale.

Bought a 1968 Tudor watch from a ‘verified dealer’ with 300+ reviews and using their escrow service. All went well and watch is as described.

Like everywhere there are good and bad. Due diligence is essential.

Well done for getting the advert pulled.

I have used Chrono24 and had good success if you use sellers with history on the site and use their escrow format for payment. The escrow service allows you to pay with credit card, then the funds are held until you actually take delivery of the watch. The funds only get released to the seller after the buyer confirms delivery. I agree with many that wiring to another individual outside of an escrow agency is never ideal. But there are a lot of brick and mortar businesses that sell on Chrono24 successfully and fairly, I would argue they are safer than a lot of the forums we all frequent that have no real oversight of the exchanges that take place.

Yep I have bought several timepieces from folks on Chrono and of course used my AMX as well as trusted seller escrow ( doubly protected) . Great way to buy -but sorry no wires for me! :-))
