Finally my first Rolex

I finally pulled the trigger for my first Rolex and went with a WG Daytona model. Absolute stunner in person and waiting on my new bracelet at the correct size which should be in this week. The AD did their diligence to ensure I am not a flipper and I have a few more models in SS they expect in and stated I will get a call when they receive them. AD's do know what they are getting next from Rolex but they don't know exactly when.

Congrats! Lucky that they still have the WG around. They don’t last long normally if it’s on display.

I went to my AD a few times and asked some questions in person via email for face sizing on my wrist etc. and told them what I was looking for (same thing as everyone else) and provided a few for "the list". I wasn't sold on the Oysterflex bracelet but they mentioned that they are getting the eventually purchased model in for a preferred customer (which didn't exist) and will call when it comes in so I can look at the bracelet as I was leaning towards any one of the SS professional GMT or Sub models or even a 116509. They had a TT yellow/black Daytona I tried on and liked the fit on my wrist. They called a few months later (preferred customer didn't exist as they were ensuring I wasn't a flipper) and kept the watch in the back for me and said they will give me some time to think about it which I didn't need after seeing it in person. AD do not put desired models in the cases which the AD confirmed as they are well aware of the aftermarket and this particular AD wants someone to wear their purchases and get that personal satisfaction. Who can blame them.

It really is about relationships and trust as any business transaction is. The AD is going to keep me informed what they have coming in as they know my intentions and style and we have that trust. I'll assume spending this amount helps and I believe what they say.

Fun fact, I did my shopping in our old '08 Honda accord in shorts and a t-shirt after mowing the lawn. Picked it up in our BMW x7. Just a fun game I like to play to see who judges and I don't want to do business with anyone who isn't respectful to everyone.

I guess your AD is a stand alone store (not in a mall) that way your AD can easily see you hopping out of your Honda vs your BMW?

JR Dunn in south florida had a while gold daytona with blue face in the case last week. Was gorgeous. Probably wont last long as there is a lot of coin down there and the boat show is the end of October.

what an outstanding first choice. This watch does it all. It's my favorite modern daytona.

Interesting story!

Congrats on the WG pick up, great choice.

Did you put your name down on any other lists after picking up the WG?
