Would You Buy a Steel Daytona at List/No Tax If Your AD Called You Right Now?

Ive been a long time reader and the "how much would you pay for a daytona" thread had me thinking... since the answers there are vague .. Ifigured ask the more important question.

No! No! and No! But that's just me! I don't pay anything MSRP, especially in this kind of ecomony!

No, but that's because I've never fancied chronograph watches.

I don't care much for daytonas....but I MAY consider it, if given a 100% discount and no tax. But then again, if I got it for free, I would sell it and use the cash towards another Rollie that I do like.

There are pre-owned Ms out there in the mid $8000 range. If I was in the market for one, I would jump all over one of those.

I have seen a few brand new with stickers just a touch under list. Here is one example, $9,850...

I would have to give it some serious consideration. I am on two lists and have been waiting over a year. I have since bought the GMTc which seems to have scratched my Rolex itch.....but a DAYTONA!?!?!?!?!

In this economy I can't see paying full retail for luxury items.

Yes, for brand new i would pay list price. It's the ss daytona for crying out loud. there is just an over supply now because of all the hoarding that happened. trust me once the old stock is gone it's going to go away soon my friend. but for preowned i'll pay at max 8000 us dollars. all i've seen in the trf posts about ss daytonas are:
1. For VIP
2. strong connection with a vip
3. mostly Z, M series and some V
4. the AD's only have atleast 5 in stock
5. The ss daytona is still one of the must have rolex.

but i have one now so i won't

This brings up another question - In this economy, what would it take to purchase today?

For me, a TT GMT II C from an AD at more than 30 percent off and no tax. If I could find that deal, I'd buy - otherwise I'll wait it out...

On this FS forum, I have seen BNIB under msrp, and LNIB in mid 8's, and going lower

No, no, and no from me. A) I would never pay MSRP for a watch (especially in todays economy) B) The Daytona is not for me, not crazy about it.

No way would I pay MSRP for any watch from a AD, way to many discounts out there even when times were good.

Nope. A Daytona would have to be priced near the Speedmaster costs for me to seriously consider getting one.

I could get one at list from my AD right now, if I wanted, probably.

Right now in this economy I think affordability plays into many of these replies. ;-)
