Bezel Insert for 1665 Great White Mark 3 Dial?
Hello guys!
This is officially my first post on Rolex Forums I was wondering if you could help me spot if this insert is from a total different time period than the watch, or if it seems to correspond. My concern is that the top of the inner triangle inside the 4 in 40 is "too flat". Is this normal? The fonts do not seem thin enough to be a service dial, but they also do not seem fat enough for me to be 100% sure the bezel is from the same era as the rest of the watch. Rolex Sea-Dweller Ref. 1665 Dial: Great White "Mark 3" Picture: See attachment Please let me know if this thread was posted in the wrong section or if I broke any of the forum rules. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Leo |

Yup. Here's my (former) 1680 with that same '80s insert to compare. They're nice, because the font is not thin like the more common service inserts, but it's definitely not an MK3.

I had one of those inserts come on my maxi 5513 with punched papers to 1983. I believe it was service replacement, and had a newer pip so I put a faded mark3 on it....

Thank you all (Filipćo, stmoore, Kingface66, 1665fan, swish77) for the valuable information. My doubts were cleared, that insert HAS to be an 80's service replacement.
How about the one below? I think this bezel is indeed a MK3 insert and belongs to this watch. However... the conditions of the Dial are not very attractive. Pay close attention to the Hour Markers for numbers 6 and 9. Is it advisable to restore the hour markers for this dial? Experts have always told me to never touch a dial and leave it as it is. Would this case be a good exception or the watch will lose value with a restored dial? If advised, where could I send it for restoration in the US? Thank you very much in advance for all your great help and knowledge. Regards, Leo |
