Nokia N85 - The perfect phone for me. What's yours??
I was given this phone a while ago as a free upgrade upon renewal of my £15 per month contract and I must say that I am continually impressed with it.
There are five things that make it damn near perfect for me : 1. Built in GPS. I now have Garmin Sat Nav built in and it works every bit as well as my previous stand alone Tom Tom, now sold on Ebay. 2. MP3 and Video. 16gb is plenty enough for all my MP3 books and albums as well as quite a few series of Larry Sanders, Curb your enthusiasm and other personal favourites. The 3.5mm phono socket allows me to use my Shure earphones and the sound is pretty damn decent. Not quite as good as my X-fi 8gb but enough to see that go on the Bay as well. 3. Ngage gaming. I was given 10 free Ngage games and went for the golf/pool/fifa/puzzle types. Hardly PSP beating but pretty good nonetheless. 4. Wireless Lan. I use Youtube Google Video and web based email regularly and this thing works well at home, in work and at the coffee shop. It is not as impressive as my daughter's HTC Android or an Iphone with their screen scaling but they would fail me in other departments. 5. Decent Digital/Video Camera. I remember when camera phones were rather pathetic in this respect. Whilst it is not as good as my Canon Ixus 860 the 5 mega pixels, a decent macro and stutter free medium res video are pretty damn nifty. In recent months I have spent many an hour in hospital waiting rooms with our parents being unwell as well as a long period out of the country on a work errand and this one device has been a very useful tool for me, all in one fairly small package. The battery life is exceptional which may partly be down to the use of OLED screen technology. It even works as a telephone. Whilst it does other fancy things, voice activation/recognition, FM transmission etc I am only interested in the aforementioned top 5 functions. Do you have a favourite phone and are your priorities the same as mine?

I heard the camera is quite poor and the phone doesn't come free with the tariff.

Have an E61, did get an upgrade to an N95 but it just felt cheap and tacky and the cover on the back kept falling off so it's in the drawer and I went back to the E61 which is good enough. I also have an 8800 Scirocco which I only give the number to close friends.
I have no need for anything other than phoning and a bit of internet now and then when I'm out and about. B. |

I like my Motorola V9M. I only use it for calls, texting and some pictures. It's thin, yet durable and has a large outside screen. It's a year and a half old and it's served me well

Same here with my RAZR2 V9, bought last September with a new extended warranty, $50 for an additional 3 years coverage including water damage. I keep dropping the darned things in the harbour.

I used to use a cell phone just as a phone. Even with my company phone being a BB Curve, I used it to read CNN and Reuters and that's pretty much it. The GPS feature was nice.
But since I got the iPhone, I have been quite impress with it. |

Motorola KZR Razr. Had it on an upgrade when they first came out and were big bucks- it was free. despite being continuously hassled by a friend to get an Nokia N95 like his, this one does what I want it to do. Its slim, easy in the pocket and does what its supposed to do - eg. phone calls.
It will get upgraded when I can be bothered to do it but for now I am happy with this. Si |

Than I upgraded to the Motorola world phone which is a slider similar to the KRZR. Loved the phone, but found that the alarm didn't work properly. Tried a different one and found that all of them had the same problem so I returned it. I loved Motorolas, but their quality control needs some work. |
