Wow! Expensive Watch at a Portland AD

My business trip took me to Portland, OR today.

Since I arrived too early for my business matters, I decided to stop by an AD in Lloyd Center.

I have been looking for either an 16610LV or an 116710LN.

I walked into that AD and saw that there was an 16610LV on display. A nice store staff came over and quoted me $6500 and told me that she could sell me the one in the store's safe. I did not ask for discount or anything but I did say that I was able to get much lower quote "somewhere". As nice as she was, she did not offer to say anything else so I left. I was ready to whip out my credit card if the price was quoted at or around $5500. I was willing to do so because there is no sales tax in Oregon.

I have a feeling that I will eventually buy from a member here who already quoted me the good price...

Yeah no doubt.

I am just waiting for Uncle Sam to return my money so I could turn around and give it to TempoKing.

Retail from an AD is ~6400 bucks............ 6500 from a store where you know you won't pay sales tax might not be a bad deal for somebody in a high tax state....especially without shipping.. It is hardly an "expensive" Rolex.

You can almost always do better at a Grey Dealer, or a "used" seller...However, some people prefer to get it at an Authorized Dealer with a fresh warranty and all else that that brings...

I say, come to Canada and buy it.

LV's list price here in Vancouver is $6760 and you can easily get 15% discount, and with taxes and everything it comes down to $6900 Cdn. Then with the current exchange rate it will cost your around $5K USD.

I know about the ADs in Lloyd Center very well. Been in there numerous times and even bought my Air King and Green Sub before I joined this forum and began to know better. One of them has great people and with some serious arm twisting will give you a slight discount (maybe) on certain models. 3 % if you are lucky. Too exhausting to negotiate with. However they have great deals on re-sells at thier Washington Square Mall store on Rolex bought from an AD that went out of business in Washington.

The other AD in Lloyd Center is well...I won't mention it by name. Enough has been said on here already about how firm they are on discounting and how they BS thier customers without mercy by blaming Rolex for the reason why they cannot discount... i. e "Rolex will not allow discounts and we could lose our AD status...blah blah blah.." "You have to spend X amount of money in the store to even be put on a list for a SS Daytona." etc. etc..

I won't give them a dime of my Rolex money.

And hopefully you won't get those IOU's that the state of CA is giving out.
