Hey guys...just wanna share you this..I just received an email from ebay...and it says like this (check buttom thread) it will ask you to click the link... asking you to update you account...PLEASE DO NOT DO IT!!! ITS A FAKE EMAIL!!! i was ready to update my account but i realized that the only reason they will limit you to access your account is if you have a negative feedback...and i just realize that i dont have any negative feedback..so i called them..thats where i found out that its a fraud mail...BEWARE of this guys..be very very careful..they will ask for your credit card number and stuff...then once you click send its gone to the scammer!! i hope this helps!!!

I can't count how many times I've received similar phishing email's from "eBay" and from "PayPal". Just forward them to [email protected] or [email protected] then delete the original.

Just make sure the email addresses you by FIRST AND LAST name. If it says 'dear member' - it is a fake. Some more sophisticated scammers get your name from previous communication, then it is a bit more difficult to catch. Rule of thumb - don't click on ANY links in emails, just copy and paste in your browser. Also - the link may say one thing, but when you highlite it - it will say something totally different. So watch out!

I used to get those all the time from Ebay. Then, about 2-3 years ago, my account was taken over by someone to bid on things and not pay. I ended up with 3-4 negative feedback ratings on transactions that I never participated in. Took forever for Ebay to settle it. Finally said F it and closed the account. Just opened a new account a few months ago but my trust of Ebay could not be much lower.

i already did al...butg can you imagine if they do this for a living..atleast 2-10 they will get somebody's account..and by the time you know they have purchase a lot of things already..

wow...can you imagine if you have established a good account then somebody mess it up...just like that...these people are scum-bags...

yup, most "official" emails from Ebay and other vendors that direct you to a site via a hot link are bogus. I get them all the time from Paypal. Be very cautious before putting any of your info into those linked sites. Even though they look official, they're not. Glad they didn't get you Oscar.

My husband got an email from AOL a couple of days ago telling him we needed to update our billing information. He asked me about it because I handle the AOL bill, the account's in my name and it's linked to my card. Two things: such an email would have come to me not gone to him since my screenname is the primary one. Also, I just updated my info last month (on my own prerogative because my card was expiring). So I knew it was bogus.

AOL actually sends a snail mail letter for account updates. Or at least they used to.
