Selling to a Dealer

Is it typical business practice when selling to a dealer to ship the watch first before payment? References are good! Thanks

Yes, this is common. I've been through it and it can be pretty stressful. They will inspect the watch upon receiving it and then issue payment.

Yes this is typical in my experience.

But make sure you are dealing with a trusted reseller that provides a prepaid FedEx label and is fully insured.

That is tough for most of us who live in the backwoods. Most of the resellers are in the big cities. A long way from me.

It’s normal. I did this with my Omega PO when I sent it to DavidSW. Shipped the watch on a Tuesday using the prepaid label, he received on Wednesday, and sent payment on Thursday.

I’ve sent and received many watches and have never experienced one problem. I use USPS, FedEx, and Parcel Pro.

Tipically that’s the way they deal on trades too, you have to ship yours first for them to inspect it.

No chance I’m shipping a watch before receiving payment. Sorry, I’m looking elsewhere if those are the stipulations.

Make sure the dealer is extremely well vetted. And if so, considering you have presumably little to no reputation, then go for it.

They'll want to re-appraise its condition and check its authenticity as well.

Yes it’s very normal! Just make sure it’s a reputable trusted seller. I’ve done that a few times myself to trusted sellers on TRF

I would only ship Registered AND insured, so the package is signed for every step of the way.

Yes if you’re talking modern pieces. Vintage is another story, even among trusted dealers.
