Datejust 41 Wimbledon dial question.

Hi everyone,
I have a question Re: the DJ41 Wimbledon dial. I like the watch, but I can’t quite get my head around the white lume marker at 9. The Roman numerals look amazing, but then why break it up with a single white marker? It seems some what out of place. A shame because I think it’s otherwise fantastic!

The marker symbolizes the tennis court/net.

Haha I’ve never heard that before, I’m guessing your joking but it’s the most logical answer I’ve heard.

I think it's just to give some symmetry to the dial; the lume marker matches the white date on the opposite end.

It's a reference point for the lume. If it wasn't there you wouldn't be able to read the time at night.

The hands have lume so one can tell time at night. It is as Noonan states...

I love the Wimbledon dual but agree with the OP that I wish 9 o’clock was a Roman instead of that (odd) lume Baton.

My guess is that the Roman 9 would be very crowded there and they didn’t have a better option given the size of the letters on the rest of the dial. It’s definitely a compromise.

I don't think it is a mistake as it balances the top half of the dial with 2 numerals either side of the Rolex crown

I have the same dial but matte and gold. I don’t mind the marker at 9 my only problem is I’m worried about the long run like yellowing and the lume dying out as well as on the hands

The weird thing is I’ve tried this watch on probably a dozen times at my AD and have never actually noticed this until right now.

This seems to be the no.1 question on the dial. I thought it was a little weird at first and was also a little apprehensive, almost went with a stick dial. Owning it now I cant imagine it any other way. The marker balances with the date window perfectly. The Wimbledon definitely has it's own symetry and style. I'm glad I stepped out of the box a little and didn't play it safe. I love it more everytime I wear it, never gets old..Its my 4th and favorite DJ.

Is this dial without white marker a compromise? I don't think so!

I agree, this looks better but I think the numerals are slightly smaller than those on the Wimbledon.

I think it adds a perfect touch to the look of the watch. It's an awesome dial. The TT is stunning.

I agree with every word you posted. It gets better every day I wear it. My TOG was the only other reference I revered as much. I suspect the folks that are on the fence haven't seen it in person. Obviously, not EVERYONE will like it but most owners seem to consider it 'special.' I certainly do.

Wow. This is the only dial I would consider with an oyster bracelet and smooth bezel. looks so good.

That’s what I think as well, and I own a 36 DJ with white romans.

This was a tough second option for me. Very beautiful. Had to go with the TT.

The stick add contrast to the dark rhodium dial and symmetry to the date, I think it looks great, but still prefer the classic all stick version, pops more on dark dial

The only mistake Rolex made on this watch was not putting lume on the hands.
