Do you leave your Rolexes in Hotel room safe or suitcase?

When you travel with multiple watches, what do you do with the ones you don’t wear when you go out, leave them in a locked suitcase, in the room-safe or carry them with you in a laptop bag or so?

I always put the ‘don’t disturb’ sign on the door and leave the TV on, then lock my valuables in carry-on suitcase.

What do you do?

I have never had a problem with a hotel room safe.

I travel with one watch. It stays on my wrist 24/7. For the past two years this has been my 42mm Polar.

Some cities you wouldn't want to wear your watch everywhere, especially if it was an expensive one. I mean can wear most of the time, but sometimes you have to leave it behind.

Generally I wear mine rather than leave it in room however on a cruise a few years ago we were strongly advised not to take ‘expensive’ items ashore at one destination.

Rolex stayed in cabin safe and I went ashore with a $20 Timex bought in the ship’s shop.

I wouldn’t take the risk - one watch only / never used a hotel safe

I take one watch it goes on left wrist, I also wear or carry a wrist sweat band (tennis type) on my right.. if in a bad area I cover my watch with the sweat band..
If the bad lads can't see it it's generally safe

I never use the safe for my watch....

Nice one, great idea.

I sometimes take my watch off and put it in my pocket if I end up in an area where I feel at risk.

^ I have done this. Just want to add that you might want to wrap the watch in a handkerchief and include the space between the caseback and bracelet.

One watch, on wrist, 24/7, and if within the USA, a deterrent in my right front pocket.

I keep one in my purse, unless it’s a small purse and I do use the hotel “safe” or lock it in my luggage.

As I was typing my original answer, I realized I would be telling the internet whether or not I leave watches at home instead of bringing them with me when I travel. And if I do travel with multiple watches, what I do with them: put them in a suitcase? Safe? Laptop bag?

That made me feel more unsafe then any city I’ve ever been to. (Side note: every city has more crime then you’d ever imagine.)

I know, I know, there are no bad people on the internet, especially not on TRF. Still though, I’ll pass on this one.

Never the safe, but the actual hiding place varies.

Back when I was sexually active, the "Do not disturb" sign on the door handle meant I was enjoying the company of a casual acquaintance, not packing my Rolex into a ventilation duct. The times..they are a changing.
Good luck to the TS...you need it. Oy vey.

For international travel, my insurer only covers the watch while on your wrist or in the safe. There are frighteningly easy ways to open a hotel safe.

Trust the hotel, not the safe. A prybar would make short work of one of those.

Luckily, most people are pretty honest.

Never. Only on my wrist. I would always research my destination prior to departing and select my watch appropriately.

Sure all the time. I spend well over 200 nights a year in hotels and I usually bring at least two timepieces if not three. All my watches are fully insured with Jewlers Mutual so nothing to worry about.
