Rolex DD seen at Sam's Club

Back around 1988 I saw a Rolex DD in 18K with the Bark center links at a Sam's Club of all places!!

I was wondering if Rolex ever sold these through wholesale companies like Sam's Club or did they get it via some other avenue? I would think if they did that Rolex would have filed litigation against them.

I only saw it at the one Sam's Club in El Paso this one time and never saw them have another Rolex at any location.

What's the scoop on this guys?

Not sure but I think it might be a gray dealer set up of some sort.

Here in Chicago we have Costco and I have seen DJ Rolex and Cartier from time to time.

Someone a while back posted photos of a small Japanese convenience store selling NIB Rolexes. No kidding! A convenience store.

I wish I could find that thread...

I saw a few datejusts on display before, on the aluminum ledge of a lunch truck....right next to a few tuna salad sandwiches and a pack of twinkies. I wonder if the operator of that outfit, was an AD?

My guess is that catering truck was as much an AD as was the vendor at Sams Club selling the DD.

hah. Nice find Ryan.

Personally, I don't think Rolex should ever sell its watches at discount warehouses, etc. It diminishes its brand, as far as I'm concerned. Rolex watches should really only be sold at fine boutiques. It's funny how Rolex has such strict rules for it's AD's, in the manner and fashion they are allowed to sell and advertise Rolex watches......but then Rolex allows Costco to sell Rolex watches? GO FIGURE!

There's a booth at the Festival Market (aka the Flea Market) in Pompano, Florida, that sells Rolexes. They have to be a grey dealer because their prices for DJs come close to matching a Daytona.

Costco does post a disclaimer that they are NOT an AD and the watches accordingly have no warranty. How does Costco get their hands on them?

You are talking about a store called Don Qxuiote. Its a chain store and from the pics it looked as if they were a conveinence store. More of a Japanese Walmart. You can virtually get just aboiut anything there. The have Rolex too displayed very very cheesily.

About the same time, mid-late '80's, I also remember seeing a Rolex at Sams, it was a TT DJ and the Sam's was in the St. Louis, MO area.
