Waitlists don’t exist or: How I got my SD43
I have been living in Boston for 2 years and have passed by every AD in and around Boston multiple times to try my luck at getting a GMT Master II BLNR. Never got any positive responses. Everyone always claimed no inventory/get 2 units a year/ need to spend a million bucks etc etc.
This week I decided it was time to buy my mother a nice gift for her birthday and found a couple of ADs who carried a specific brand of jewelry ( and also Rolex). Went to both and found what I wanted for her. Both ADs had the usual YMs, tt subs, daytonas and even sea-dwellers but no SS. One of them said he might be able to get me a sub date and a small discount on the jewelry. I wasn’t really enthusiastic about a sub as I have a 16610LV but due to the promise of a small discount I told him I was going to come back tomorrow with my wife to buy the jewelry. Before I left I mentioned that I really would want a BLNR and possibly a SS SD43, a watch I had never seen in real life. Next day I walk in 30mins before they close to get my mother’s gift and lo and behold the manager says “Hey I was waiting for you! I have one of the watches you mentioned yesterday! We just got a surprise shipment and I haven’t called anyone!” He brought out the SD43. The rest was history! I think this definitely goes to show that being there at the right place and right time one can get lucky, even in these crazy times and bypass “the wait list”. By no stretch of the imagination did I spend a huge amount to be given that SD43. I hope he comes through for a second time with the BLNR in the next few months. Best of luck to everyone awaiting a “hot” reference from an AD. Sorry for the low quality pics. Lighting there sucked and I still didn’t take the watch home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yep, I got a BLRO with a very limited purchase history from an AD by buying additional jewelry that I was already going to purchase. I was there for the jewelry and just threw out I want a Pepsi and after about an hour of the same “nothing is in the safe” and “we have a waitlist a mile long” one appeared and I took it home.

If you are already committed to buying the jewelry it makes buying a lot easier! Congrats
And you are correct. Waitlists aren't really a thing anymore. He was full of when he told you he received an unexpected shipment.

Yes some ADs play the VIP game. However I got a Sub and BLNR without any purchase history. Congrats & Enjoy!

Nice 15500 there. Congrats on the sd43. Chances are it was sitting in the safe waiting for some kind of bundle buy.

Never understand why someone needs to comment on a thread with negativity. Clearly it's no Daytona or GMT in terms of desirability but a quick watchrecon search will tell you that it's listed by seller between 12.5k and 14k while retail is 11.3k, so clearly not that easy to find and clearly there is demand for it. Nice submariner

Maybe it is not how much you spent on that gift but rather to whom that gift was that triggered something in that manager. Sometime it takes nothing to know about a person, and sometimes we just like someone more than others. Your nice persona got rewarded with a fantastic watch, if you keep visiting this AD regularly, just to say hi, chat chat about watches and keep reminding him not to forget you when the GMT is in, I guarantee you'll get that watch before you expect.
good honest Relations is priceless. Enjoy your mighty SD43 :-) Quote:

Yes! Thanks for hooking me up with the Milgauss! It’s crazy that I’ve purchased 8 watches from my AD and I can’t even get a Milgauss. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

These things happen. I travelled to another city in search of a VC overseas, got talking to the salesman & one topic led to another & he showed me this beauty, fell in love but didn't bite the bullet. Came back & found myself obsessing over it & so went back after a couple days & snagged it. I'm on a waiting list for a Pepsi with my regular AD, dunno if waitlists are a myth, but this can only be called a fluke or a stroke of luck.
