Please help me with this 5513.

I'm not a collector, just think these older 5513s are cool. I know I need to get more photos. The R-serial dates it to 1988. Seller says it's a complete package, B&P, but I don't have photos of those yet. What are your initial thoughts, based on these photos? I would wear it, had I bought it, not keep it in a box. Thank you!

Looks good and all original especially the case. The white on the hands may indicate it is a service replacement but it could just be the lighting.

That's a nice sharp case and the 5513 with gold indices are getting more popular.

Very nice! Great case, and the hands/dial patina appears to match, although hard to tell 100 percent because of the lighting. I'd check with a blacklight.

Looks great mate, very reasonable lugs size and overall clean piece, however I recommend a closer look at the hands, they look newer, nothing wrong with that, its just needs to be reflected on the price.

Looks right from what I can see. I had an R series 5513 that was my daily for about 5 years. It wore great. Totally different feel from my current Sub C No date. Not better but just as good in a different sort of way.

My only issue with the R series is the gold surrounds. They are nice and getting more popular for the 5513. But if I got another 5513, it would be a pre gold surrounds dial. But those are in the main more expensive than a gold surround 5513.

It would be nice if you could get picks of between the lugs for and aft, the back, and the bracelet ends. Also, the moment and the inside of the caseback.

Unless it was an upper tier trusted seller, I would not buy with picks of every aspect.

I bid on the watch, it didn't reach the reserve, and a couple of days after the auction I got the following email from the auction house.
I find the language a bit on the odd side, but you be the judge:

Good morning Mr. ....;

First off, I wanted to personally thank you for participating in our auction this past weekend. I watched your bids, and as impressed by not only your taste, but your patience and stoic approach to bidding and observing the lots you were interested in throughout the auctions progress. I was hoping that you would reach the reserve on the Rolex, and thus get something of a sigh of satisfaction and no doubt another wonderful addition to what must be a pretty well put together collection of watches over the years.

When after the auction ended I saw that you didn't get the watch. I felt that I, at least, could reach out to my client who owns the submariner and personally ask him if he would consider reducing his reserve and meet you closer to where you ended your bids instead, at first he declined, but this morning he emailed me and let me know that it would be okay if I offered the watch to you for not 9,000.00 $ which he was very firm about, but somewhere in between. I told him why not 8,000.00$, and to my surprise he agreed. That being said. If you would like this vintage Rolex with all of its paperwork and original packaging from it's original purchase, since it's had only one owner. Then the watch is yours for 8 thousand and that would be with no sales tax or fees but 8000 period, no extra costs or hidden premiums. If you are interested please email me back, either way so that I can let him know. Thank you for your time and interest in these matters.

8k for full B+P 1988 R serial is cheap nowadays. R serial's in that condition without B+P are being listed for 10k+ these days. If you like the watch then I think 8,000 is a fair price.

I see what you mean, "A special deal for you my friend, as i like you" kind of wording. Its the way he mentions no extra costs or hidden premiums, hoping you will jump and send the money.

Is it a noted auction house? Brick and mortar or internet only?

Bit more digging i think. If he is an auction house you can bet he is making his fees from the client somehow, i.e. getting the watch for 7 and passing it to you for 8.

2. If I felt good from the additional pics, I would say. Ok, put it back up with a buy it now at 8K and I will take it. I would also give a time limit.

I would not purchase it outside of a resisted auction. No protection. No deal.

The pics appeared to have all checked out so far but clearer additional pics would be needed before any $$ sent until I had just read that letter and their agreed $8k price tag which is $4k too light for a complete B&P set, strong pass on this one.
