Sorry to say if some of the members don’t yet realize, but every AD has large stock in their safes. LVc, BLNR, BLRO, 116500....really anything you want and at most times fully stocked. If you don’t see it then you will never be offered it. Really that simple. Purchase history or not in this market.

exactly, usually have plenty of those pieces in the safe, they determine who will get them and when.

We will never know what is in an AD's safe unless they offer a personal tour. For insurance reasons I do not see that happening often. But its so nice to dream on what may lurk in there.

Exactly a month back I visited a AD on dead weekday afternoon in mall I showed interest for a TT sub bluesy after I left AD in 10 minutes he called me and said we got shipment and we got bluesy I turned it down but I bought it now. I am sure these guys will sell daytona to me in bundle if I bought 228238 now.

Believe what you want to believe but my AD doesn’t hoard watches in their safe. They didn’t get to be one of the highest volume stores in the US by not selling their wares. They do have lots of customers and the “hot” models are all sold as soon as they arrive.

You have no idea if this is true. Not remotely. Pure speculation stated as if fact. You should go into politics.

Do you think this is really the case? If so, with a very good relationship with my AD, do you think a YG DD40 gets me into the steel Daytona?

I heard that it’s in there interest to sell and turn them over so they can get
The next allocation going and by selling more it helps establish more future allocation.

And your reliable source from 1000 dealers or so for this sweeping generalization?

I think just as much as speculation that the watches go right out the door. That being said I can’t take you back and show you each AD’s safe or say I work for so and so, so a moot point. But if you’ve ever seen an AD pull out NOS then I think that helps demonstrate what happens to some of these watches. I can tell you that at almost any AD in the US that if you purchase a big hitter PM piece (or more likely in this market several PM), there is a very good chance something will come out from the back that happens to be “reserved for another customer”. Buy that PM piece and “another” one of those SS models will happen to be delivered and amazingly be already in the back when you get a call the following week. We can at least derive that a portion of these watches are held back in safes. The percentage of course we will never know exactly. Part of it I think is the hype game. It’s to the AD’s benefit to not display these models for single purchase and make them seem even more demanded.

I have a friend who is a manager at a large AD, he holds the keys and tells me they sell as much as they can as quickly as possible. They pressure clients to collect before month end as they constantly under pressure. They don't have time or the energy to play silly games.

My experience supports this model. It’s hard to say if both tactics are broadly being practiced.

The bundling offers would seem to support one, while the ‘got the call’ seems to support the other.

I’m sure a big purchase escalates ones place on the list, whether actual or not.

This is what i believe after going through my AK purchase. I originally went in looking for it, but slowly convinced myself i "wanted" an Exp. Got a call a few months later to come check out the AK to see if i like it. When i got there it was pulled out of the safe, not-displayed, and i noticed the entire shipping box had a paper on it with a note basically saying save for Twovalvekid with all my contact info.

I don't think they put hot models out unless their "list" of potential buyers reaps no sales. Think about it. If you want a BLNR, walk in, see one, and get told "sorry not for sale," how do you think that potential customer feels. You think theyre coming back? Probably not.

I picked up my last two watches the day they arrived in the store. They were presented to me in their coffin. Another guy was there picking up his James Cameron the night I got my Daytona. Another CHNR customer was on the way. If for some reason any of us had turned them down, I’m sure the next customer on the list would be called.
I have seen Yachtmasters and black DSSD’s put in the case because they had no one waiting on one.

Imagine you are the shop owner and this is the inventory you have to sell, then pay rent, payroll, salaries, taxes, supplies. Still wondering why they bundle, and hide things in the safe?

This happens in most ADs with good traffic as demand and esp flipper demand is unprecedented. I went to probably the most richly located AD there is, in Knightsbridge, next to the Hyde Park apartment complex that is the most expensive in the world I believe, and they had not even one SS DJ41 on show; now if any multi-millionaire or billionaire neighbour decides to pop in for a SS Rolex I imagine they will not be told - I'm sorry, your Highness or Grace, my Lord or Sheikh, we simply have nothing for the likes of you today as we just sold our last one to Flipper McFlipperson who bought one on 3 credit cards yesterday.

As quickly as possible would seem to make sense..........surely fast cash turnover is important?

AD’s hoard a large amount of stock in the safe?

Why?

And how would they pay their bills?
