Icon5 Odd question re: abrasive caseback

I know it sounds strange, but hear me out. I've got the 42mm Submersible 682 with solid case back. There is a lot of engraving, dead center appears to be divers riding a submarine or something. At times, I swear I can feel the abrasive effects of that center engraving on my wrist. Particularly when the watch is looser on the wrist and it rotates.

Taking it off, no exaggeration, I can file my nails on that center engraved area. No joke.

Is there anything I could fill in that area with that wouldn't be permanent or harm the watch? Maybe let some weak glue dry in there? Drip some wax? Got to be a simple solution. Packing tape would work but not sure I like that idea.

Hmm, I own the exact same watch but never experienced this problem. Granted, I’ve only owned it for a week (but it has been my daily wear thus far)

Perhaps, you’re wearing it a little too loose? I like wearing my watches really snug so I reckon that restricts the movement of the watch thereby limiting the possibility of the caseback rubbing up against my wrist...

If you’re not a fan of the snug fit, perhaps those sticky plastic kitchen wraps may work if you cut it out in the exact shape of the caseback? (Sort of like the stickers when your watch was new) I wouldn’t mess with glue or any sort of wax, personally.

Good luck!

I have 10+ pams and one of them have concave caseback and I wear them a bir loose but thankfully I’ve never had this problem

I’d echo the cling wrap suggestions as it’s less dangerous to the case and wrist

Other suggestions might be the soft plastic material for 3D printing molded to fill the pig carving on the caseback, wax might work but make sure you buy the washable ones, not the sticky ones

I believe they sell generic case back stickers. Read a while back that someone got them for a Seiko to protect sand scratching the case while wearing it on a nato at the beach.

Maybe Amazon?

I am surprised the engraving on the case back is so deep, mine on the pam 1616 is much shallower.

A number of years ago I had a JeanRichard Terrascope that had an abrasive back. After a month, it had actually worn off the hair on the top of my wrist. I ended up with the clingwrap suggested above and it did the trick until I sold it off.

I have the 00682 for about a year now and have never experienced this. While reading I took my watch off and began rubbing the caseback against the wrist to see if it felt abrasive and could cause irritation. Honestly, can't see it being a problem with mine.

Nonetheless, I'd personally try a caseback sticker. Should help.

I wouldn't let my case back be abrasive.

Next thing you know; cussin', cigarettes, staying out late - it's vicious.
