SKX007 - Graduation Gift
My Nephew is graduating from College and I wanted to get him a watch to mark the occasion.
After thinking about some more formal options I went back to the watch that had been on my mind for him for over a year, the SKX007. A couple years back when I sourced my SKX013, I examined 3-4 pieces in order to get one with a clear crystal and (mostly) aligned bezel. To my pleasant surprise the 007 I purchased arrived in excellent condition. Dial, crystal, and bezel alignment are all tops. I am impressed at the brush and polish work on this watch. It is a 2019 production year example so last year of production for the SKX007. In addition to the OEM dive strap, I also sourced a new Uncle Seiko Z199 bracelet. I think this handsome bracelet will dress it up for work or formal occasions. I hope this watch will serve him well for many years to come. |

Good idea!
He will think of you when he wears it. I have gifted many watches to my nephews, brothers and father. It’s gratifying when they show me that they are wearing a watch that I gave them.

Nice! It will be appreciated! Looks like the design has not changed in a good 40 years. Here's my 7548-7000 150m Quartz with the Endmill 22mm bracelet. I almost got the same one you purchased.

Awesome gift! I love my SKX. Goes great with a NATO too.
Seems like a good time to get one with all the Seiko 5s coming to market. |

Still an excellent value in my opinion. New Seiko 5's have a better movement-4R36 with hack and hand winding, but case is down to 100 meters water resistance and is not ISO rated like the SKX. Numerous color options available with the new Seiko 5. Lot's of SKX watches sold over a long run, so will be available on the used market. If on the fence I would suggest picking up a new example while still available. Nice watch to have around. |

And when the 7s26 dies (if it ever does), swap in a NH36 and you can hand wind and hack. A sapphire crystal at the same time puts the SXK on another level.

I've owned that watch too, for many years, and really like it.
but I did not like the OEM strap that came with it. So good call on getting the nephew the bracelet. I personally opted for a nato.

I gifted a SKX Pepsi bezel I had barely used a few months ago to a kid from my cycling team who had graduated high school. He was wearing an Apple watch when I gave it to him and I wasn't really sure if he would use it.
He tells me now he never takes it off, very cool to hear! |

Do not think I am going to get a good return on my sundial, though! |
