Final check list before pulling trigger

Hey everyone,
I was in an AD this evening and doing some last minute reconnoissance before pulling the trigger in the next month. This is my first visit to looking at an SS Submariner in person. Haven't really looked at the real thing in person. Seems smaller than I thought. I guess doesn't help I have been wearing a big face lately as daily watch. The sales guy didn't budge on any break in price($6000) if I paid cash. Was wondering if that's normal or because it's an AD they don't budge on price. Im located in Atlanta if anyone recommends or know someone would give me a break if I pay cash and is an AD would be great. Also, was wondering if anyone would recommend other dealers in Atlanta that sells preowned particularly 2008 M Series certified by Rolex if that exists and what price I should stay at. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!

I thought the same thing initially about the size. I had worn much larger Omega and Oris. Took about an hour to get used to it-the Sub is the most comfortable watch I have ever owned. These days, you should get 10% off at a minimum and more like 20%, especially for cash. Do you 100% want to go the AD route? There are some great sellers here that do brand new Subs for <$5K.

+1 to getting a SUB on one of the great forum posters here (on line gray mkt as a last resort). I'm sure there's someone in ATL with a SUB to sell on here. Plus, you're going to not have to pay tax either. That's a 7% discount right there if you were looking at someone selling a Sub on here for $6k. By the way, I doubt that anyone would be able to get $6k for a Sub on here.

BONUS!! If you do a local deal, you'll meet another WIS who could serve as a refrence for other deals down the road. You can never have too many watch buddies...

If you have to purchase from a AD for your piece of mind. I've found that local "non-chain" ADs are more likely to offer a discount as opposed to the big box watch chain Rolex AD's in the malls.

Dude, let me be the first to introduce you to online "grey" dealers. jomashop.com has subbies w/date for $4795.00, out the door! There are a number of other good online dealers that have similar deals. Oh, there are even some guys here that can get you NIB models for equally low prices.

After you 20% off subbie arrives, go back to that AD and rub it in his face.

Good luck with your purchase and yes, you should get a hefty discount given the economic situation. I would think a minimum of 15% if you pay cash...probably more.

Really?! How'd you do that? I must have said the wrong thing or looked too young to be able to buy a rolex.

If interested PM me and I'll give the name of my AD. He should do a fairly good job on the price and as he is out of state there will be no sales tax. My family has purchased four Rolex watches and has treated us right.

I'm realizing that now. I was glad I was just doing homework instead of being impulsive and pulling the trigger like I am with most things. I've got one other AD I'm going to check out tomorrow and see if they're anywhere near what prices I'm hearing on here.

Retail for a ss date sub is terrible. Only rolex's that are worth retail atm are ss daytonas and GV.

If you want to go the AD route, try playing one off of the other. Let both know you are working with another AD and see if one or both will bid down. I do this with cars on every purchase. If neither of these AD's will work with you, try two others. There must be many dealers in Atlanta.

Before you do anything, check out the sales site here. If you can find a used one you like, you will save several thousands of dollars, and you are jsut going to wear it anyway.

There are deals out there, you just have to look. I got like 12% off my SD from my AD in October. It was my first buy there. Ron

PM me if you are still interested. I know a guy in Atlanta that gets them from a local Atlanta AD. He has dozens just sitting in his safe deposit box. He has a brand new M series Sub date available for under $5K.

Hi everyone, thank you for the helpful hints. I was in another AD this evening and I was given 10% discount off of 6000 with cash purchase. Is that seem fair as far as discounts in other parts of the country. I'm in the Atlanta. What's the most you all would pay for a new SS sub? The more I see one the more I want to get it and be done with. Thanks everyone!

i am pretty sure you can get AT LEAST 20% off retail..
I would actually try to get one with 25% with no tax from an AD (not grey).
